damn 10 off msrp for evo Xs

LOL - I walked up there with the same attire and have a shaved head too. He glanced at me up and down before telling me I didn't look serious...that's the part that pissed me off. I guess since I'm latino, I can't afford a 30K car :P

don't feel bad they didnt let me test drive one until i was negotiating the price

when i bought my MS3 they made me test drive the used one on the lot.

wow they pretty much threw me the key to test drive my ms3

maybe cuz it was an 08
07 when they first came out they probably would have been hesitant to let me drive it

They better let me test drive the thing
I almost bought an Evo over the MS3.

My GF, who has an 05 MZ3, convinced me to take a look at MS3. The "dollar cost averaging" did not favor the Evo, but I was coming from an '02 WRX, so I was a bit AWD bias. I drove the MS3 first and was impressed especially due to it being FWD. The Mazda dealership had no prob with me test driving it and even let me take it on the freeway.
I then went to the Mitsu dealership, talked with the salesman and told him I had 10k to put down, but I wanted to test drive first. He said no. I asked to speak to the sales manager. While I was waiting I had the finance guy run #'s. He told me I qualified for tier 1 financing as my credit score was over 750. My GF, who surprisingly really liked the Evo, was stoked and thought it was gonna be a done deal as did I. The sales manager came out and told me that it's their policy, Mitsu's, is not to allow test drives of the new Evo's, but I could test an older model the Evo IX to get an idea.

I looked at him and said "I really don't get to drive it?"

"Nope".

I flashed him my blank payee cashiers check for 10k, supported by my middle finger and told him I'm getting myself and MS3 at the dealership down the road and thanks for wasting my time.
The salesman followed me out the door and kept asking me what it would take for me to buy a car today. My last response... "get a test drive or have your sales manager eat a d!ck".

I sincerely hope you have better luck.

My local Mitsu dealer (now closed) let me test drive a brand new X for 24 full hours. Took it home and out on a Friday night. Took it down my favorite backroads, and put 115+ miles on it, and didn't buy it. I wanted to really bad though lol. One day.

look what i just got home with!

Sorry to say this man, but I would buy the STI any day over an EVO. IMO, the subaru looks better(only in STI trim, other trims are hideous.) and the fact that its a subaru. The interior is 1,000,000 times better too. If im paying almost 40k, I dont want a foam shift boot.

Oh yeah, same thing happened to me. The owner of the dealership didnt let me take it out, and i'm a close friend to one of his close friends. He told me that they had a guy come out in a $100,000+ benz and had $38,000 to put down for a new X, but they wouldn't let him drive it unless he bought one. His explanation was that there is a certain buyer for the EVO, and they would want to break the car in for themselves, but how do they know how it drives if they cant freaking drive one?

interior as far as headliner sure, it is much nicer (radio, controls, steering, cluster)

but the evo seats > sti

when i drove the sti's when they had 8k off and 0% financing i did not like the sti at all, suspension felt really soft and it did not feel that much faster than the ms3, the evo on the other hand pulled really hard

also this is paying 27k now, no longer 40k :)

also i hope you dont think i'm biased against the sti, as imo subaru reliability > mitsubishi, and im gonna hate the fact i'm losing a hatchback as it's so handy.

did sit in both, for a lengthy amount of time and I noticed that the subaru felt higher quality and better "put together"

Yeah +1 to everything you said, and yeah, the Mitsu. may be a better car for the track, but in the end, its all about which one is going to be the most comfortable during the commute, unless of course its a weekend car.
