Well the last hanger on the exhaust broke off last week so my muffler was hanging low, it was really close to the skirt and I don't want it melting and the hanger also pulled a nice chunk out of the pipe as well so I decide it would best to take it off.
So yesterday I figured I'd take off the whole cat-back section and run it w/o one until I bought my new exhaust. Right before I slammed the skunk2s last year, I went to a muffler shop to get my pipe tucked up cause it was hanging too low for me to be low. Anyways, I've never been up in there to see what he did until yesterday.
I get down there to take apart the exhaust and he took out the flange between the res pipe and axle back and replaced it with a pipe. So my whole cat-back section, from the flange at the mid-pipe back to the muffler, was one whole piece and I had exhaust leaks every where.
I wasn't about to go someplace and pay them to cut it off for me so I just got a hack saw and got to work. I finally cut through it then when I went the undo the bolt and the mid-pipe flange, the bolt was stripped and it didn't turn worth a s***. I was too tried to continue so I got some wire and wrapped it up around the sawed off part of the pipe to pull it up from hanging and dragging. So right now I'm running w/o a muffler, I will attempt the take off the stripped bolts this weekend.
not a terrible plan... I wouldn't go with CS though... personal choice..haha, shut up Jason. It sounds the same, just a little louder.
Never again will I go to a muffler shop and get work done, my axle back area was disgusting. I might put the p5 exhaust cause I don't know how long its gonna take me to get my CS exhaust money.
I don't plan on getting a header, that's why I'm going CS. I've got my hood popped 3 times in the last month and a half and I know they know a header is illegal and I don't feel like having to swap it out every time I get a fix it ticket so if I'm just going cat-back, CS is the best sounding to me(even though technically its not a cat-back).
Every N/A protege with a header and any cat-back sounds too ricey to me so I'll get the CS and keep the stock header and if I ever boost, I still won't have to worry about the rice sound cause the turbo will take care of that![]()
WD-40 and arms that aren't as useful as wet noodles.Lucky. That's how I think about the CS exhaust, it takes out the second cat but its under the car anyways and my car is low so if they wanna jack my car up in the middle of the street and check, they earned the fix it ticket they'll give me. lol.
Side note, anyone know how to take out the exhaust hangers w/o damaging them? I tried forever yesterday on the p5 and finally just cut the damn things.

boredom. took a vaction there once when I was a kid... wtf were my rents thinking? idk.I know the stock ones are s*** but I need something to hold up the exhaust until the CS one comes.
The more I find out about VA, the more I wanna live there. Any downsides to living there? Weather? Crime? Taxes? such things?
