Repair Price to high? (injectors)

So I was trying to save a few bucks by replacing the spark plugs my self. It didint work out so well.

(car was just fine before)
Basically I replaced the plugs and I got a rough idol and an engine light. I put the old plugs back in and I got rid of the engine light but still a rough idol. So I put the new plugs back in, reset the CPU and eventually the light came on again. (bosche plugs, $5 each)

I took it to a shop, they ran the code and one of the fuel injectors is leaking. Stupid me, when i was first starting to take the plugs out I accidently started to take the injectors out. Well I guess I did not put it back scure / properly. Any way the shop is saying it will cost $378 to replace the seals and clean them. Seems out ragious since it is right on top of the engine. If I knew what to do I would do it (look were that got me the frist time).

Any suggestions? The shop also said to have a look at the timing belt, but I think I will put that off until it gets closer to the manufactures recommeded milage.

dude, hate to say it but why were u messing with the injectors to get to the spark plugs? seriusly

pay the shop and get ur car running right.... then browse these forums day and night and get some idea on how mod

Yeah I know I hate to say it too. I actually began to take the plugs out right the frist time and for some reason I told my self, no over here.

do NOT pay the shop.. absolutely not..

0 rings are VERY easy to replace.. even for someone who doesn't know what they're doing..you probably just ripped the 0 ring because you didn't use any kind of lube..

so buy the orings, buy lube, and go buy NGK spark plugs.

i am going to hunt down those parts and do the work myself. i jsut case see that works costing that much, i called them back and they said $15 for each injector and 2 hours of labor. they came down to $320 :/. so i will do it myself, my neighbor is a mechanic anyway.

Like stated above just get the o rings yourself and install very easy to do.Don't pay the shop crap that's just crazy.

gotta love flat rate =]
its how we make our money untill we get dicked with a job that say pays 3 hours but takes 5...tech only gets paid for 3 but if hes good and has a good rep with the writer he could get the time covered

open the gas cap to depressurize.. you're indefinately going to have fuel come out..it's in the fuel rail just try and catch it witha rag

you can also pull the fuse for the fuel pump and turn the motor over a few times to get the fuel out of the lines.....

Dude (no)...you gotta do more than remove the gas cap to depressurize a fuel injected engine, just FYI. Like bgibb said, pull the fuel injector fuse and then crank the engine till she won't crank no more.

start the car and let it run
then remove the fuel pump fuse and let it run out of gas so to speak

anyways. who gives a s***. that's how i've done it mostly. never really had issues. just a very small amount of fuel getting out.

removed the cap and stuffed a rag at the end of the fuel rod, not that much fuel came out. got some O rings but none were the right size, i put the injectors back nice and tight and reset the computer, we will see what happenes.

Just don't try that on a vehicle with direct injection
