What have you done to your MSP today?

Depending how jacked up it is, I don't know that I'd leave it on there...

If I am guessing correct I would say probably just the ending threads are screwed up. As long as the threads where the nut tightens down to are fine than the axle is in no danger. I am willing to even bet whatever the friend did may be fixable

I think the integrity of the nut is probably the definite problem, and depending how much grinding was done... idk if I'd trust the temper on the steel. those are VERY high stress parts, so, better safe than sorry. I'd make the asshole pay for everything he touched the grinder to, to teach him a lesson if nothing else.

well the nut is maybe 5 buck but the axle is definatly a problem... he ground down the threads on the axle, so I wouldnt trust it on the car by any means.

Sprayed WD-40 on my rear bushings to determin if it is bushing squeak or spring creak. It got rid of the problem for about 30 mins and now it is back. I guess it is the 91 degree temp today that dried it out that fast? Guess I need new bushings

try grease... not lube.

Guess I would have to see the pic then the outer threads aren't a big deal and that area by no means is a high stress area

yea my car started running like s*** today. i think it's related to the high temps we've been having the past few days. whenever i push the clutch in coming to a red light/stop sign it tries to stall on me. plus the intercooler seems to be holding back on me even more than usual (heatsoak i mean). my dad suggests that i should get a tune up. he said i could start by cleaning the injectors and getting new spark plugs. any other advice?

edit: also the turbo doesn't make the little flutter that it usually does. i guess it's the turkey that i'm talking about, doesn't quite sound like it to me.

in that case, I'd do all of the above, and any fluids you haven't yet replaced. Depending on mileage, a timing belt while you're at it, and check the condition of the serp belt.... replace/clean your air filter depending on what you're running... etc.

what is the mileage for a timing belt? is it 60 or 65? I will be cleaning the egr, the throttle body, and my air filter and maf in a week or so

Doing the timing belt "on time" isn't a big deal in these cars, as its a non-interference engine (valves won't hit the pistons if timing belt breaks).... just kinda sucks being stuck dead on the side of the road when it does go....

thanks for the advice wagonbacker.

on another note, just got off the phone with velocity factor, and the stories are infact true...GHL is no longer in production. BUT another company is going to make my exhaust (i think the name was BGM) and it should be here in about a week or 2 at the latest. yay!
