Might not be the right forum; however, does anyone have any photos, diagrams, colorful descriptions, etc. of where the shims are applied on the cowl to stop the dreaded cowl creak?

Many thanks in advance...

Just get the TSB done...no matter what it's free. It's not worth the hassle to do anything yourself when Mazda is supposed to do it for free. This is also discussed in many other threads on here, just search for it.

I've had the TSB done and everything else on the car is crap but that TSB and the parts I've installed.

Many thanks--I've read most of the other threads but no one seems to know exactly where the shims/tape are applied.

I'm unfortunately from the school of thought that I will only return to the dealer as a last resort. I've always been hands-on with all of my cars, I've heard and experienced too many horror stories...

Yea my dealers around me are terrible but it's there for warranty or they all screw me...like they don't already. *note sarcasm*
But fo rthis, I would seriously go to the dealer and see if they can do it. The foam padded clips are just too good to pass up. Seriously, go.
had the car since october? so not sure ;)
lol really? or you ****** with us??? I knew about this before I bought the car.

Thanks guys-- I should explain that I have a 5 but I have to believe that the procedure for fixing this condition is similar-- any pics would be appreciated!

guys, dead serious. i'll search for it
Weirdo...:p

Search for it, lots of threads with LOTS of pictures. I think the last thing was 1/8'' cork tape put right under the top of the cowl between it and the windshield. Opens it up, dirt collects, water leaks, in the end...foam padded clips from the dealer reign supreme.

Thanks again and though I've read many threads I haven't seen any pics, searching under "cowl creak" and "windshield".

lol yea google gives me better results for this site than the site's search button. Try google or spend a little while searching through threads.
