I am not sure if this has been posted or not... searched (kinda) but didn't see anything...

I sent Forge an email asking about when/if they were producing a BPV without the "mario coin" noise. This is the response I got on 3/30/09:

"We have finalized the prototype all that is left now is working out or pricing and to schedule machine time to produce the initial product run. Hopefully they will be available in the next 4-6 weeks."

We'll see if this time frame holds up, but at least they are working on it!

i would defin get one.. dont really like mario jumping around in my engine bay

Yeah, me too. Gives people pause when it blows next to them, I am sure the majority think there is something wrong with my car!

haha my mom asked me if there was something wrong with my car the other day

lol. Same here. Is something broke? haha. The forge is actually pretty loud. I watched the guy test drive my car out onto the main road when they aligned it. I could clearly hear the bpv even from 1/8 mile away.

I freaking love the Mario coin! I've made people stop in their tracks and turn around completely with a huge WTF look on their faces.

i dont mind it but would like to have an option that doesnt cost so much. the valve works great, much better than stock.

if forge were to make a non-ping valve, i would buy it. fo sho!!!!

I heard rumor about this and exchanged PMs with Patty at Forge regarding this a while back. They did confirm they were coming out with a new BPV, but at the time, it was going back to design since they didn't get how they wanted it. I don't know currently where it stands.

Personally, I like having a unique sound for our cars. Better than the typical HKS flutter that all STi's and EVOs have.

did you guys hear about the turbosmart bpv kit that SU is coming out with?

Benefits of the TurboSmart Bypass Valve Kit over ALL other Bypass Valves:

* Recirculates under light boost/normal daily driving conditions
* Choice of high pressure and low pressure springs.
* BPV spring rate is tunable to the vacuum of your car * * No Stalling or backfiring
* Holds boost more efficiently over stock valve
* Increases drivability and responsiveness
* Recirculation helps maintain proper A/F Ratios
* Gain Top End Horsepower

also it comes with the Standard Spring pressure which is rated at 10-20 PSI and the High Pressure Spring is rated to handle 20-25 PSI efficiently

Just looked at that valve, looks like they're going right after the Forge with their design. Price is pretty good too.

well the install really wasnt that bad and the biggest reason why i went this way is b/c we all know what happens when we go to pass someone on the highway and when we let off the gas to quickly the cars dies and bounces back and forth. what i LOVE about this valve is that is feels like staock with the performance of aftermarket.

Got any installed pics?

My own experience has proven to me that the OEM BPV works perfectly and is the "best". Oh, and I'm running 21psi on it... I sold my Forge long ago and will likely sell my TXS as well. The piston-types are too sticky, slow to react, "bounce", and require frequent maintenance. They do make the "special" sound that most people are looking for and look really cool and shiny, but they do nothing to increase performance, unless you're feeling placebo effect.
