ETS or SU TMIC?

Sort of surprised I wasn't able to find a thread on this already. Maybe I didn't search hard enough... Anyway, I'm thinking about getting an upgraded TMIC and know there are a few options out there.... namely ETS & SU Since they're relatively the same price, I'm wondering if there's any tangible difference between them. I emailed SU (who's normally pretty helpful with this type of thing) but since they've got a horse in the race... they may be a bit biased. So what do you guys think?
 
Pretty much the only difference is fit and finish, with the SU TMIC having nicer welds and a polished shroud standard. There may have been a few more fitment issues with the ETS than the SU version.
 
I have the SU, never actually seen the ETS unit so I can't compare. The SU piece is a little thinner (3" vs 3.25"), and seemed to fit OK although not perfectly. The front right bracket broke at one of the angles, so shoring up those angles might be a good idea.
 
You should have sent it back to SU and had it fixed or gotten a new one. I thought that the SU was 3.25 just like the ETS?
 
So they're both the same in terms of their performance?

Also... what's the deal with everyone keeping the black plastic casing off? Does it no longer fit with the new TMIC or are they simply looking to show off the new goods? I could care less about that and actually prefer the look of the 'stock' engine bay.
 
Wait, so the SU's shroud is polished!? No need to have to pay extra to get it polished? and I thought the S.U. was 3.25" just like the ETS?
 
The black plastic cover does not fit aftermarket IC's. Hence the shroud around the TMIC's. Can't say for sure, but I believe that the SU shroud is polished. I'll be getting mine tomorrow, then I'll know!!
 
ahh... that explains it then. sort of blows. I think the non-plastic covered ICs look awful. but hey... it's all about the performance so F it. Someone should design a cover that fits these. I know I'd buy one!
 
Seems like the general consensus is that the SU is the better choice overall. Yet, on their site, the reviews seem to favor the ETS. I guess you can't go wrong either way... I just want to get the best possible one I can (for my $600)
 
I just got the ETS as it was a little cheaper than SU at this point in time. Plus they weld on demand over there at ETS in Oregon (so I'm told), so they're probably getting better and better at the welds. I dunno. For me it was gut reaction since the TRZ mounts were comparable to SU, but I prefer TRZ. That thinking carried over into my TMIC decision - ETS over SU. SU is polishing for me though.
 
I just finished installing my SU TMIC, to me, the whole thing is fairly shiney, sort of polished, but I didn't add any extra finish. I also got SU boost tubes, but due to the some what bad fitment of the rear one, I think I'll look into the some that OBX has.
 
I'll more than likely go ETS when the time comes. I guess in relation to the amout we have to spend on these what's an extra $100. Performance is the same so it realy comes down to what you think is better.
 
SEARCH is your friend, when it works that is... this is like the 4th thread with basically the SAME title, tho my search function refuses to work. When I type in "HKS" to seacrh about the hks bov for sale and reviews, sound clips, and threads about it it sayd there is NOTHING... which is total BS since there are plenty of threads with HKS in the title or in the posts, the search function pisses me off since it never works for me

go ETS, save the money they work just the same, I have the 3.25 ETS and its a great addition, cannot complain one bit.

I'll assume you got the same collapse on that back one that mine did, there's a picture around where..... The OBX is longer and will require some test, trim, test, trim, test, trim but it fits better and didn't collapse.

Well I just searched (yet again) for 'ETS TMIC' and 'SU TMIC' in the MS3 section. Went through a total of 8 pages... nothing like this. So I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say there are 3 others just like it.

As stated in my original post, I DID a search prior to creating the thread. I'm still surprised nobody had brought it up until now since they're both around the same price.
 
ok i just talked to su yesterday and asked what the size difference was between ets and su's tmic. ets is a 3.25 and su is something around 3.18 . i really dont think that little bit matters all that much.but what i was told was that su's tmic is put together better than ets. i also purchased blue boost tubes. i have my tubes and tmic sitting in my garage right now waiting for my turbo inlet and shark fin to come in the mail so i can install them all at once.

all in all the tmic looks amazing and which ever one you get will be better than the stock one. and the price difference is only $35 ..and if you get su's tmic they give you 20 bucks off the cost of there boost tubes which from what i hear is a must..so really the difference is a savings of $35 without tubes and $15 with tubes if going with ets
 
thanks for your support lmao!! but i am sure it wont be a big deal. directions say your supposed to stretch the tubes out a little i think..should be a good time tho lol.
