626 Intake Manifold N/A Simplified

i have one on mine, i really like it! i still can run my cruse which is a plus, i enjoy that!
i love the deeper engine tone, and get a whole lot more 'push back into seat' when i step on it after 4k rpm!

what else...

oh, also weighs like half as what the stock mani does +1

and my personal favorite... i can change the oil filter without getting under the car! +2

i don't really have any downsides, maybe the fact that you loose a little bit of low-end...but the highway passing time gets cut in half!

truly enjoyed installing this manifold that day kevin :) hooray for hoists (birthday)

awww! thanks! i love hanging out with you guys!

...looks like i'm going to have to find a job around the chicago area then!

edit: and don't worry people, we didn't use the engine hoist to directly install the manifold, we were doing the rear motor mount...lol

If you were also doing the manifold, didn't having that huge hole behind the engine give you enough room? I did my rear motor mount when I had my manifold out for VTCS removal.

oh, it definitely did, but the hoist just helped with alignment of the bolts...

Could you tell me what model year you got it from?? (I actually don't know if it matters...but soneone mentioned a 2000 model as the best??!?) Is there a difference between the 2.0 and 1.8 manifold from the 626 or is it only the one from the 1.8, that will work (on the 323 FP-DE)??

And if someone has a picture the show the differnce between the 323 and the 626 1.8 manifold, I for one would be greatefull.

Thanks...

alright,i have a question regarding the manifold

can u use the stock egr pipe or do you need to purchase the 626 egr pipe?

if you get a manifold it has to be from the 626 with the 2.0L fs motor in it. if you get one that is older then 2000 the egr pipe is in a different spot and then you have to use the gas line as a "flexible egr pipe". People can do a search on this.

good to hear that we have another 1.8L builder on here!! I love my 1.8L way better then my 2.0L in the MP5. so you felt a good difference in performance.

KZL can you tell me your mods list. I just want to compare notes.

So let me get this right other then gaining some mid range power IF any there are no real gains other then the sound of the engine. So in the end it's not worth the price unless you get a deal on the manifold?

I guess this also depending on the car.

Where you dropped on your head when you where little?

There are gains to be had at higher revs, while losing a little low end. The benefits are worth it. The more your engine is free'd up in other aspects the more you will notice the new intake.

Maybe....... (outie)

and from what I understand if you have a light weight flywheel you don't even feel the loss of torque and from what I also understand you may loose like 1-2 lb-ft between 1500-3000 RPM OH NOOOOO(nailbyt) you won't feel any of the loss and I'm sure that it dose a great job of increasing volume and velocity to increase mid and high RPM operations with out dipping the torque curve. no one has take the time to Dyno it on an N/A motor but with this manifold you reduce restriction and increase velocity. I bet that the lower rpms acelorate like normal but when the 626 manifold "comes on" in the mid rpms to redline it pulls stronger.
Am I out of line? this is just my .02 so please chime in

Sorry norwood1026 just people have posted here saying it does work. Its one of the easiest mods to do.

Nothing N/A is going to give you massive gains from anyone MOD. Cept a retune perhaps.

take a look at the skunk2 and edelbrock intakes for the honda b-series motors and the big gains those make with "SUPPORTING MODS" just because of a better flowing intake manifold
