How-To: LED Interior / Reverse / Licence plate lights

Pics of mine soon. FYI, when one of my LEDs started going on and off, one of the dome light ones, I wrote an to superbrightleds.com and they sent a new one right away. Excellent service...

So I had 3 bulbs burn out. I had superbrightleds.com do a warranty replacement for me by sending them in, which they did with no hassle. However I see that yet another 9-led white one (in the trunk) is burned out again. I'm just not happy with the build quality of these bulbs; I'll be getting a replacement from another source. I guess that place's service is good, but if the bulbs keep dying, it's just not worth it.

that's too bad; i've had mine installed for a good 5 months with no problems. good luck with your replacements.

I had a bulb go out (on the license plate) I ordered 3 more to have as spares and to use for another car. On the one that burned out I swapped it to a different socket a few times and it started working again. No problems since...

ordered today :P

Got UV to see what it looks like, mostly. The purple would fit the theme I'm going for with my car. Black with purple highlights. Ordered the white ones as well, just in case they look horrible (which they probably will. Super-rice, I know). :P

Dude I never thought of UV bulbs!!! That would be so coooooooooooool!!!

installed mine yesterday, they look awsome....hopefully i wont have any problems with them burning out

awesome how-to write-up, very well done.

quick question on the color setup, being from MA, I believe interior blue is highly illegal, as well as blue on the license plate for example. has anyone here run into any issues w/ the authorities due to the blue lighting?

I suppose in my case I should just opt for the UV/purple , cool white, something along those lines.

thx!

Got and installed mine today. Here's how UV looks, mostly. Apologies for the blurry pics cause I can't figure out how to make my camera take decent night shots, but you can get the general idea.

Those UV lights look sick but wouldn't it cause extra UV radiation on the interior? I mean, maybe not within the next few weeks or months but by the time you sell it, wouldn't it be lighter inside?

I highly doubt the amount of light being thrown by those bulbs is enough to make a difference

They'd only pop on for a few seconds when I open and close the door.

Sides, I doubt I'll leave them in for very long, they don't really offer much usable light :P

Haha, yea the purple would get kinda annoying when you actually need to use the lights for something. But it'll give you some interesting ways to find stains for the time being. ;)

Sucess! except I dropped my LED in one of those little holes by the light while trying to shimmy it in there =(

I read posts about people dropping the trunk bulb down that little hole, So I put a piece of tape over it before I started. That bulb is hard to put in.

I wouldn't use any colors other than white in MA, I live here too and have had friends pulled over for color LEDs.

I just ordered lights for the map, dome, and trunk. Only cost $20. I went with the blue lights. Hope they look good. Ill post pix once installed.

I am just blind because I can't find the "two 7440-xLX3 Luxeon LED bulb" for the reverse lights anywhere on the website. I was able to put the rest on my car though, just can't find that model of light. Thanks.

Has anybody done the reverse light on the sedan, i just did: Dome light, glove box, Map light, Trunk/Cargo light, Licence plate light, and my own custom blue led lights by the drivers feet(pedals) and the same spot on the front passenger sides)...................i wanted to do the back up light too but i couldnt find the panel on the sedan.....
if any1 has done the back up lights to the sedan or could help me, it would be MUCH appreciated :]

also one more quick question: if i read correctly, the new back up lights APPEAR brighter, but they actually do not produce as much visibilty as the stock ones, has every who has done this motification, found this to be pretty true??

ill post pics later
