Stoopid Tint Ticket

So I got harassed by an asshole CHP officer who forced me to roll up my windows during a "routine vehicle inspection" (he merely pulled me over to look for things wrong with my car, not for speeding or anything else). Not only did the asshole make me wait 30 mins to write up a fix it ticket for my tint, but he also acted very unprofessionally (was goofing around, and messing with me), and also gave my appearance date on my birthday!
So I reported the douche to the watchman on duty, and informed them of how one of their own were acting. The worst part is that I stripped the tint from the front windows, and when I went to get the ticket signed off, the officer did not even come out to look at the car, he just signed it off!!!
I think it is bulls*** that younger men get singled out on the road just so the state gov can make a profit out of issuing b.s. tickets.

So your tint was darker than legal.
Why was it a stoopid ticket then?
Don't do things like too dark tint to call attention to your car then
you might not get harassed for routine vehicle inspections.

why were you stopped in the first place?? i am sure that he didnt just randomly say hey, thats the car i am going to pull over and "inspect". My guess is that you had your windows rolled up, he noticed, pulled you over, you rolled your windows down hoping he didnt know they were tinted, asked you to roll windows up to prove his point, and issued ticket.

i know it sucks but, rules are rules.

Wait'll Eric Holder starts sending Federal agents to "routinely inspect" your home for firearms he deems unnecessary. I imagine they'll routinely find all sorts of things to bust people for once that starts...

I'm gonna miss the 4th Amendment. What's left of it.

+1, if its illegal and u know it, dont complain about tickets

Oh please.. Don't come off being all holier than thou, many many of us do lots of things here that are borderline (this is a car forum) and if there is one place where we could vent I thought it would be here.

Sucks you got a ticket man, now slap some tints back on. Although since you do live in Cali I'd probably think about getting them lighter since I hear cops are looking for revenue out there big time.

lol

I agree that OP can't really complain about getting a ticket if he knew he had illegal tint. But I'm troubled by the cop screwing with him. It really fries me when small-minded jackasses go off on a power trip and screw with people just because they can. It's petty and stupid. Even worse, it gives the police a bad reputation, which only makes life harder (and more dangerous) for the decent cops out there. (protest)

* End rant *

illegally tinted windows is a reason to pull someone over

it is supposed to be due to them not being able to see inside of your car to see if you have a gun/knife or something when they are pulling you over and ask you to get out of the car, its a hazard for their own safety of the officer.

If you are simply driving around with tint on it shouldnt be "illegal" Seeing as nearly every other car out there in AC has tinted front windows.

Still it's lame that he pulled off the tint then the officer didnt even come out to check it out. That happens all the time.

I say tint it back up and if you get another one just go to the chp office and dont remove the tint, just see if he comes outside, if he does then you will have to take it off after that. But if he doesn't come outside you're in the clear

That's too bad.

For those of us not wrapped up in "appearances", and image (what age does that change?), it's not a problem. I would only tint my car if I couldn't wear sunglasses. Same goes for sound and performance mods. In 20 months, I've been pulled over exactly once, and that was for "pushing" a red turn arrow. My car is an '07 MS3.

Anybody that knowingly does wrong and complains when they get s*** for it are whine-y babies, IMNSHO.

Maybe it pisses off the cops that they have to do their job and write stoopid tickets when they could be offering their services for greater good, so he ****** with OP. Cops are human too.

front window tint in california is illegal. You cannot have it on the car. The shops still tint the windows, but you have to sign a waiver knowing that you are aware its illegal. everytime ive gotten windows done ive had to sign this.

While it is a lame reason for being pulled over, its a reason nonetheless. Perhaps you did something to grab his attention in the first place?
