Throwout bearing making a lot of noise???

Have any other MS3 owners noticed that when idling at a stop, if you push the clutch in whether in gear or neutral, you get less mechanical engine/trans noise than if the clutch is out?

It sounds like a throwout bearing or something in the clutch assembly is making a racket.

My car only has 3500 miles on it and I don't abuse my clutch.

Maybe I am just being to anal about it but just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

I think every MS3 owner on this forum has complained about this. Seems normal considering how few owners have had mechanical issues arise from this (myself included).

this is the first time i've heard someone else complain about it, i've just never said anything cuz i thught it was normal. i just figured some of the components are stronger than other cars cuz of the output power so more noise is expected

This noise just isn't with the Speed3. My 99 Miata and even my now 07 MX-5 makes the same noises. I just learned to live with it.

uhh, not not just mazdas guys, alot of manual cars of every make run into noisy drivetrain, its normal

a friend of mine had his replaced becaseu of whining noise he would get around 45-55 mph in 6th cruising

similar noise

I'm glad I found this thread because I've been stressing out over a similar noise. Except mine is more like a thunk noise whenever I start moving and also sometimes when I hit the gas after cruising a while. Bothers the hell out of me, hoping it's not serious, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the performance.

im pretty sure this is normal clutch chatter. most performance cars have this issue and if you think ours is loud, drive a porsche 997 gt3 rs and you will freak ! the clutch chatter on the gt3 is horrible !!!

i think your getting the sway bar link thump noise ... it happens to me more when i reverse when the car is cold.

Took mine to the dealer thinking the TOB was going bad. They said it was normal and the rx8 does it as well. They showed me a TSB about it. They said maybe switching to a thicker tranny oil may fix it, but it didn't. I put in MT-90 and I've still got it.

Yeah, I noticed this noise on my car since the day after I bought it. at about 7000 mi and I've had no problem. I also freaked out when I first heard it, but turns out it's a pretty normal noise.

My dad's beater 99 chevy 2500 does the same noise(tough truth be told, I didn't pay attention to it until I started hearing the speed's cluch chattering). That truck has about 100,000 mi and all stock components (save for fuel pump) are still going strong.

the stock throwout bearing is the same piece of s*** they put on the non-turbo 3s and proteges

my stock throwout bearing was ready to come apart at 70000 miles... it had so much runout, it was all wobbly... I upgraded mine to the true JDM mazdaspeed (which is a lot bigger) one meant to go with their twin plate FC RX-7 clutch kit.. you can search for my clutch thread for pics and info

yeah, they do make noise... in fact.. there is a lot of interesting noise under the hood of this car. injectors ticking away, valve train talking, tranny noise... i kind of like it. believe me.. when a throw-out goes bad you WILL know it.

changing the oil won't help the throw-out bearing noise. it is a sealed bearing outside the transmission oiled components... in the bellhousing, if you can call it that. unless they have completely redesigned these with oiled clutches or something.

feels better now

Sigh....I feel better now. I was just worried I'd have to get something fixed and use the money on that instead of modding my car, haha. Thanks for easing my mind guys.
