2008 mazdaspeed3
this afternoon i went to the dealer and traded the speed, i didn't want to do it but the lack of tunning yet and the uncertainty of durability made me fear if this car will last for more than 4 year as a daily driver, it was hard and i will miss her but it is what it is, had fun while it lasted. now i have a 2009 mazda6 gt, nice car all the way around, great improvement from what it used to be, i will post pictures and i will stick around the forums.

interesting choice....I hope you don't plan on doing the amount of mod on the 6 you did to the Speed3 or you'll be in the same position with durability fears. It's hard to go that far past stock and expect the same amount of "durability" that it came off the floor with. Any pics yet of the new ride?

i just got home 15 min ago, pics tomorrow. im not modding the 6, i probably buy a used mustang gt or an ls1 to play around without the fear of warranty issues and s*** like that.

That's what I'm going to do; I'm looking at a clean 2003 540i stick that I'll use as my DD and I'll then promote the Club Sport to HPDE car. Can't wait!

So you traded it in due to the lack of tuning available and the 'uncertainty of durability' (presumably with mods since the car is pretty damn reliable without) for a 6 you've stated you're going to leave stock.

Forgive me but... I just don't see the logic here. Why not just keep the MS3 (in stock form) as a daily driver? Did you already do too much and fear the mods you put on would send it to an early retirement? If not, you essentially traded one really awesome car that can easily last for 4+ years as a daily driver for another.

either way, I'm sure you're happy with your decision so... congrats.

even in stock form some ms3 were having problems and i already blew an engine, and no matter how friendly my dealer is with me they wont stand for another engine replacement, dont get me wrong i loved the speed but i'm a salesman so im always on the road and the daily driving of a manual car was getting to me.

Ahh I remember you, didn't you blow up your engine with mods and they were replacing it under warranty and everyone called the BS card?

Congrats on the 6, do you have any other pictures of your MS3 with those wheels? (curious)

Who cares? It was his car, he made his decision. If the 6 is easier for his commuting and let's him sleep better at night, more power to him.

bout time someone stated something like this! Seriously, if you commute daily and drive all around an automatic is by far much easier and more comfortable to drive. Good decision! There is no benefit to driving a manual shifter for daily driving, commuting, and business driving around as this guy does.

In Los Angeles where the traffic is terrible and you have stop and go up and down hills and such, it would be more practical for people to want to buy automatics here, tho all teh ricers want sticks. Yet there is nowhere to use it and its impractical for them to own a stick. Much the same with owning an sti or evo in Los Angeles... there is absolutely no need for awd or that much power or a manual shift anywhere in LA excest at a track. The people that buy that type of car around here need to be b**** slapped(ugh)

Perhaps it's their only car and they cut lose with it on the weekends? Oh and I disagree on it not making sense to have a manual just because you happen to live in the city. It's still much more involving and funner than a slush box anyday anywhere. I think it's really stupid to judge someone based on what car they drive as well. If someone drives an EVO and happens to live in LA who the hell cares and who are you to judge them for that?

Why do Speed3 owners always get all butt hurt when someone trades in their car for something else? I seem to remember a few threads on here where peple got rid of their MS3 for something else.

Congrats on the purchase. Pics would be nice.

how much did you get for your trade? You took it in with all the mods?

i got $18,000 for it, and yes the car is sitting at the dealer waiting for my tech to take off al the mods, and please dont star with b.s you cant trade a car with so many mods etc etc, a few members here know where the car is at they can witness themselves.
