Beware MAZDA North America monitors Car Domain!!!!

What's funny about the "offroad" clause is my friend bought a STi when they first came out in the states and it came with a free 1 year membership for the SCCA.

Ok I didn't want to spend the extra money on the Mazdaspeed exhaust and intake and just go with another company but, this scares the crap outa me and I think I'm gona have to man up and spend the extra cash.

Unless you have it installed by the dealer when the car is new it still then only comes with a 12mo 12k mile warranty anyway. a CBE and intake alone arent much to worry about but when you have major mods like the OP thats a different story.

The thing about that is that Subaru promoted the STi in the states because of its rally heritage. They encouraged people to enjoy the car the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

As for the other statements, it should be understood that doing things like increasing boost and running a standalone EMS will void the warranty. The problem comes when dealers try and pass over on ignorant (or smart-ass) owners that a CAI or a aftermarket exhaust caused your engine to blow. I honestly believe that if you are smart enough to install an EMS or run a boost controller, you ought to be smart enough not to over-reach the boundaries of your engine. You should have done enough reading and research to know how high you can run boost, what supporting mods you need and where reputable shops are to do the tuning. And if you cut corners ANYWHERE, be prepared to pay the price.

Yup, and a lot of Subie owners were seriously P.O.'ed when they found out the cost of their "free" membership was the revokation of their warranty when they actually used it.

HA! Damn Subaru...

Why did you have to go and ruin it for me... :(

I test drove this amazing 2008 STi Rally Car... OMG!!!!
Its an MS3, but 100X better!!!! Better interior, better power, better handling, better looking, just amazing!!!!

Though, its out of my budget... :(

Thats an interesting one, I've never heard of that before. Did you ever find out what caused it?

Not really... After a compression test and leak down test, the dealer says its due to the engine being worn... Though, I don't think the dealer bothered to really diagnose the problem. They said the engine somewhat failed the leak down test saying some of the air leaks down pass the rings. And thus is pressurizing the bottom of the block.

I still think is some type of check valve or something. Because I never had any issues prior to the accident.

Anyway, it no longer matters since I'm getting rid of the car... (pissed)

Accidents usually cause problems thats a given, shouldnt insurance then cover the cost of repairs then regardless of warranty and if your car was modded or not?

if you think its just a check valve... I would see how much they are locations and give it a shot if its not to much out of pocket.(smash) And then if you want to get rid of the car chances are you will get more if it corrects the issue. You never know it could be worth a shot as a last ditch effort or something.

Green parts are 12/12 whether installed by you or the dealer. Blue parts carry 12/12 or whatever is left on your new car warranty when dealer installed.

Zyreht, I really don't know why you feel the need to piss on people all the time. It's pretty much a constant occurance. (uhm)

That was my reason for going to the dealers, hoping they could find a cause...accident or something else. But they couldn't...

Because dealers are incompetent... Those service guys only know one thing, how to R&R parts. They have no clue when it comes to diagnosing a problem.

Even if the shooting dip stick problem gets fixed, I would still get rid of this car. The dealer stated the engine is worn... How could a 30K mile engine be worn? That is ridiculous... This car is not for me... I need something with a little more reliability. Hell my Miata ran to 240K miles without any problems!!

That shows you the problem with the MS3...it has a Ford engine.(pow)
