How-To: LED Interior / Reverse / Licence plate lights

Good to hear these are all still (mostly) working after half a year or so.

All my LEDs from superbright are still functioning after about 4 months.

Just got done putting in LEDs for rear turn signals -- it was PITA. Thanks to UHATEIT for advice on sanding the bulbs to make them fit and for good gouge on the resistor kits (also a PITA). I'll definitely NOT be doing the fronts...if I found the rears hard, the fronts would be impossible due to lack of room to work.

i started reading through the thread but got half way threw and said **** it, Is anyone having an issue with the Dome light staying lit? If i turn the switch to "off" the light will cut off. But if it is on "Door" it is lightly lit.

No, mine is fine and I have a 9-led one in there. I assume you've already made sure all 5 doors are shut tightly? Try reseating the bulb. Slide the switch back and forth a couple times. If that all fails...I don't know what.

I just placed an order for the LED's. I'm not going to replace the glove box light.

4 WLEDx6 (2 for map, 2 for lp) ($2.79/each + $.95 for cool white)
2 3022x9 festoon (trunk, dome) ($2/95 each plus $2 for white)

Whoa...just checked the price for the reverse lights on superbrightleds.com. It came out to $54.90 shipped. Is that right?

Yes, that is right, and I was told they are not oriented properly to reflect the full light - wait for some others is the word of the day. If anybody else knows more, please post.

search amazon for these 27 led incandescent style bulbs. $24 for a pair and they are very nice bulbs.

Dumb question, but which way do you have to push the tabs to get at the license plate lights?
I can't get them out... :(

Use a small standard screw driver and get behind the tab and pry down while pushing the tab back. I just installed my LED's today. When reinstalling your tag lights be careful to clip them back in snug. When I clipped mine back in one was loose and moved around where the other was solid. I realized after pulling it back out and looking at it that it needs to be pushed in at the right angle for the back to clip or slide into a slot properly before the snaps are set or it will be loose. It's hard to describe but I figured it out so others should be able to as well. Just remember when you reinstall the tag lights that they should be snug with no movement.

Installed my LEDs last night and for the glove box I didn't take off the Mazdaspeed door sill or kick panel. Some pics:

I got those reverse LED "bulbs" from superbrightleds that cost 40-60 or whatever each. They were very disappointing. They were brighter than stock if you looked dead on in a very narrow cone. But they didn't light up the area behind the car for s****. There's just one LED on the end of a cylinder basically and it only casts light in a very narrow field. It doesn't reflect off the mirror array. I ended up selling the things for half of what I paid; the second bulb never left the package for me. Do not buy those bulbs, trust me.

I feel ya man, i installed them and was disappointed that they didn't shine bright enough to see behind you, but i got them half price from a member here :) and they look cool so ill keep them. Go with my LED tails nicely.
