MZ3 / MS3 custom sub enclosure on ebay

Try looking for the subs that mount in the spare tire well. Hell, carry a can of fix a flat and use the whole well. Somebody also had an enclosure that fit in the drivers side where the jack is.

I've done a considerable amount of searching for one but have come up empty. Unless I'm missing something, it seems that the only ones that exist are custom jobs. While I don't think it's beyond me (I'm pretty handy around the home and have done a few performance-oriented mods on my MSP) audio stuff has never been my forte. Though it would certainly be more economical (and better for my needs) to have a custom 8-10" sub in the wheel well or whatever.... if there isn't an enclosure out there ready to buy... I'm just not sure that's my best bet.

But I do like the idea. On a sidenote though... as far as the fixaflat stuff goes. Pretty impressive stuff indeed. But be warned! Using it pretty much eliminates any chance you have of salvaging the tire. (many nail punctures can be patched) Tireshops won't patch a fixaflated tire though. Learned that the hard way.

Here's the JL I told you about in the other thread....

lol yeah well... that F'in sub they have in there is like $200 alone so they're chargin up the ass for the enclosure. I wonder how many of those have actually been sold! I'm thinkin I can count them on one hand. freakin idiots....

heres a quick pic of mine..

to put the cost of making a fiberglass enclosure in to perspective for some..

materials needed:
3 gallons of boaters resin(i think it was about 45$ a gallon)
1 quart of bondo(8$)
a couple yards of fleece(10$)
1 small piece of wood for box(5-10$)
2 brushes(5$)
2 rollers(5$)
box carpet to match interior(20-30$)

this is just a rough estimate

You forgot the most expensive part, research/development time and labor, and that is what drives JL's price up. You are paying for a box that fits right, and sound great. If you paid a stereo shop to make a box like JL's for you, it would cost around $1000. But do it your self and save ALOT.

is there a cover to go over that sub or something?

otherwise how do you use the boot? if you got a sub ready to be damaged

i use the trunk area all the time, i have 2 small kids and im always hauling stuff back there. No need for protection...lol. I have 2 small dings in the cone now, but ive had this setup for over a year now. All the panels are made of fiberglass and are tough and the speaker is composite/metal material. I have a knob on my dash next to my steering wheel to control the gain of it as well, i can just turn it off if i have a load back there.

I worked at a car audio shop installing before and have some knowlegde about it. Ive built 250+ setups before. Mine was originally designed for a JL sub and was built to spec as far as airspace is concerned. I wanted to change it out for something better and went with a sub that has similar airspace requirements. Diamond Audio D6. I still had to fill the inside corners of my box with some more resin to downsize it a little to specs. I guess i never figured the experience to be as big a part of it as materials. If you can do math, know basic geometry and have some carpentry skills you can build a fairly decent box IMO. As far as cost is involved, you are correct, it took me and a friend close to 16 hours spread out into about 5 days to build my box and panels. At a shop it would have been pricy.

FixAFlat? Your talking about that foam thing you spray into the tire? Don't use any of that stuff if you have TPMS. It'll foul the sensors then you'll have to buy new ones. $200+ each.

I just threw in a single 12" in a single box which I can disconnect when the full hatch is needed.
