Painting Engine Bay, Color Opinions

OK, I'm going to paint all the plastic in my engine bay (engine cover, battery cover, fuse box, etc) I have a 2009 CWP, and I was thinking of painting it bronze or White, not really sure what other colors would look good, let me know what you guys think!!!

Painting plastic in an Engine bay isnt much better than choosing white as a color for it.

Dude...If not done right this will look like complete Butt in about 3 months.

powdercoat would prob be the safest way to paint something that gets exposed to heat

well it won't look bad in three months as I plan on continuing to redo it, but I've seen it done plenty of times. As long as you keep it clean, it looks quite good. I had it done on my RX8. You have to wax it every once in a while, then its the same as taking care of the paint on the outside of your car.

have you ever painted an engine bay? on my RX8 I only had to paint it once. as long as you get a good couple coats of paint and then put a clear on it and then wax it. You're pretty much set. You do have to clean it every once in a while, but when I wash my car, I normally tend to wash my engine bay as well, and while its stock black I normally putting a protective coating on it (such as armor all)

You did by saying you would redo it every thhree months if need be.
In no way would an AUtomotive grade paint need redone every three months or at all if PRepped and PAinted correctly.

SO I deduced it by your own descriptions of your actions.

i painted my engine cover with some Duplicolor engine enamel. it can stand up to 500 degrees. all i did was was it, sand it, primer it with some all purpose primer, and then paint. it came out really good. and it was all for like 10 buks with the enamel and the primer, and i got it all at my local auto parts store

The answer I fugured you would say...Lets talk Shop then.
Tell me what you are going to use.

How you are going to do it as far as prep and some general info on the procedure and equipment involved if your not using a rattle can.

And dont be general...I will know if your BS'ing.

If you know how to do this..you should easily be able to rattle off your plans , your materials of choice and the procedure to do it.
Include all items needed to do it properly.

me, heck I don't plan on painting it, I plan on doing it the exact same way I paint everything else on my car, having my brother do it. He's got a paint booth, spray gun, and all the appropriate sand paper to wet sand and do all the priming and paint work. If I do any of the work, it will simply be the grunt work of wet sanding in between coats

I've done it on my last car, I'll post pics when I'm done and we shall see if it is up to your majesty's high standards(all i did was ask an opinion of color, and you shot off your mouth about things that you don't know, not saying you don't know how to paint cars just you don't know that I have access to a pro painter and paint booth.)

I wouldn't paint it at all unless you've got a show car you're planning on building. The hood is closed when you're driving so no one will know anyway. And as I see it it doesn't matter to me what it looks like under the hood as long as it performs

I know it doesn't matter, but its one of those stupid little things that makes the car mine. Plus, I really like the way it looks when its clean. I might put it in some car shows, I don't expect to win them, I just like to have a car that is mine and no one else has. The white speed 3's seem to just be exploding as of late. I've only seen one in Oklahoma, but after looking at the forum, they really do seem to be every where! I'm leaning towards a white w/ a bronze flake, or something like maybe. I might do black w/ white flakes, just to make it a lot easier to clean, white can be a pain in the BUTT to clean!!!

im not really sure how the color changes how hard something is to keep clean... its either dirty or clean. dirt doesnt discriminate...

If it has a clearcoat on it, it shouldnt be hard to clean at all. A simple wipe down should suffice...
