most common compilments?

Before I purchased my MS3, I sought help on a local car forum I'm active on. I had test drove an 03 Evo, 03 350z, and an 01 SVT Mustang. I was loving the Evo and 350z and everyone was telling me to go Evo. I was talking to a lot of Evo guys about the car and what not so I got to know them really well. Well obviously I ended up with the MS3. After a few weeks of ownership there was a large local meet for everyone off the board and a lot of Evo guys were there. They all came over to check out the car and said "yeah, you made a good purchase."

My friend took a drive with me in the front seat.

He got on the pedal in 2nd gear.
Him: "What is it doing?"
Me: "I think it's just torque steer, don't worry about it."
Him: Giggle and go.

That was probably it for me...

After getting a little to much attention in my Electric Blue MINI, I chose Metro Grey for the MS3 because I figured it would kinda fly under the radar, so to speak.

I have found that most of my friends, co-workers & family have no clue what Mazdaspeed is, and they actually miss/ignore the "speed" portion of the name. They all think I drive a grocery-getter, which is fine by me. Of the onee who ask, they are shocked when I reveal that the MS3 is faster than my MINI was.

Of course, I was flabbergasted when I left my house in the MS3 for the very first time to go to work at 10pm, got to the first stoplight, and a mid-20's blonde pulls up next to me & rolls her window down. I roll mine down expecting she needs directions or something, but instead she grins & revs the engine of her Dodge Whatevertheheck sedan. So I treated her to a view of those beautiful Mazda taillights & considered maybe de-badging somewhere down the line if that gets to be a common occurrence.

A few of the MINI crowd who are auto-x & track enthusiasts said that if they weren't driving MINIs, the MS3 would be at the top of their list of possible rides. That's all the praise I needed, from people I respect.

You fool?!! you were you supposed to let her win!

I love the wheels on that Mini. There's a yellow and black one like it near me. Turbo too. Handles nice, but I always pull on him mid-range. Nice tranny though....I row through gears and he's simply pecking them up and down on the way to work.

mine was an '05 which is supercharged, a lot of boltons, and a handling machine

me: (((revving the engine)))
girls: rev more!!!

Most common comopliments is that car is cute. This came from the ladies as well as some older ladies. hehehe until they take a ride on it.

Friends: Can I drive it?
Me: Sure!

- Ugh, this is why I don't own a FWD car.
- Wow, where's the power go past 5k RPMs?
- All that money and it's only this fast?
- The seats are nice.

Most of my friends ask why on Earth I would own a FWD car and I agree. (The MS3 is for sale. :( )

Your shark fin side markers & wheels look oddly familiar... any chance I might have seen your MINI at MINIs On The Dragon? I've been to every MOTD since MOTD2, and have organized the Welcome Dinner the last 2 years.

Mine was also an '05, plenty of mods to both engine & suspension. MINI got a lot more looks & compliments than the MS3, but I'm fine with the reduced attention.

To the OP: sorry for going off topic... please forgive me.

you should have worked it all out during the testdrive.

now the best compliment is: "wow, nice depreciation!"

i got: "hey nice matrix!"

So my wife and I were on our way to dinner tonight. We are sitting at a stoplight with the windows down and this Toyota truck starts inching up towards us.

I make eye contact with the older Asian gentleman behind the wheel of the Toyota.

He says "What kind of car is that?"

My wife and I both say "Mazdaspeed3" in stereo.

He says "It looks vely vely nice!!"

I say "Thanks!"

He says "Does it get good gas mileage?"

I say "Not really!"

He says "It's gotta be better than this!"

I lol and speed off as the light turns green. I hope dude goes and buys an MS3 soon!
