You First Big Damage

My first emotional trauma was about a month in. After work I stopped at a local grocery that was fairly empty and being paranoid I parked away from everyone by a long ways. I was seriously in the store for less than five minutes getting beer. As i leave the the store, I can see right away there is a shoppng cart attached to the rear end of my car. And nobody in sight. Good thing for everyone I suppose, because i really was quite angry and would have done something bad. never recovered from that really. 480 $. But the big money one was, there i was driving in the right lane on four lane two way. As i get along side she decides to move into my lane not seeing me. So I stomp the stop pedal and move to the right towards the big curbing and no shoulder 10 more feet and I would have saved the two right wheels from road rashing . Poor girl never knew what happened so I could not kill her and insurance covered. so that allowed me to buy four wider wheels an new rubber. Happy ending!

Yeah I've seen the runaway carts, especially on windy days. Lazy-ass people can't walk 20 feet to put the cart in the bin.

You just never know, I park w-a-y out by myself but half the time somebody will take the trouble to park right beside me anyway.

On my first car (volvo S40) I was driving on the highway and a pickuptruck about 3 cars in front of me had all sorts of wood and stuff in the back. Long story short . . . chunk of wood fell off . . . bounced over 1 car . . . bounced over the other . . . was going for my windshield so i sort swerved and it broke my side view mirror right off. Insurance doesnt cover those (should have let it smash the winshield). 300 bucks to replace. My luck heh . . . thats like something you would see in final destination.

As for my speed /: About a week ago I found a huge dent in my passenger door. Looks like someone threw a golfball at it. Whoever smashed my door must have nailed it hard . . . Tried the hair dryer / CO2 technique to get it out but the diameter of the dent must be too small. Very visible though. I try to park in good spots but at college thats impossible. Your lucky to find 1.

Always look for the nicest car in the parking lot then double park 2-3 spaces away from them lol

I do try to park next to nice cars, like between a light pole and a nice car. I figure they don't want to mess up their Mercedes or BMW opening their door into my car.

I try to park next to my coworkers who care about their cars. On a day when I'm parked between a modded out 330Ci and a brand new IS350 I know my car won't get a scratch on it.

Ain't that the truth?! What is up with that? I've had that happen so many times. And more often than not, it's a beater!

Speaking of parking horror stories...

Few weeks ago I went to visit my GF in Wisconsin (5 hour drive from where I'm at), and when I get there we head out to the local grocery store to pick up some stuff for dinner. I parked wayyyy back cause I'm completely anal about my car (I'm the guy who makes you wipe your shoes off :P) and don't want anything touching it. We're in the store for about 40 minutes or so, and we get back and I go to put the stuff we bought into the trunk, and I find this:

Some jerk-off hit me or got to close and clipped the back of my car. No note, nothing. Took it to the dealer and they want $1,200 for the whole back bumper to be bought/painted/installed. Guess I just live with it. :\

(p.s. I know it's dirty in the pics. 5 hour drive in the rain does that :P)

everytime some one drives my 5 it comes back damaged

- employee hit brick paver wall in driveway
- brother ran over dead deer and broke crossmember and exhaust supports
- wife backed out of steep driveway too fast/wrong angle, ripped front lip off
- wife turned too sharp out of ATM lane at bank, destroyed side skirt
- wife followed semi truck too close, got rock lodged in windshield

sigh

Moral of the story, don't let your wife drive your car.

Have you tried actual dry ice? I used it on my rsx for a few little dents and dings and it worked!

Ah...it's something REALLY tiny (not even a mark on my door) but it just gets to me.

I was parked outside where I work (wasn't working at the time, though) waiting for a friend of mine to finish. I was lying down in the driver's seat listening to music with my windows open. A guy get's back from the store, opens his door RIGHT into my door, and proceeds into his car like nothing happened. I mean he didn't even try to slow his door down when he opened it! He just opened it, let it slide on over to my door! I was in the damn car with the windows open and music on! I was gonna get out of the car and tell him to be the **** careful or else but I didn't wanna make my friend think I was angry again. I've been having lots of "angry-moments" lately >_>".

Nope I havent tried Dry ice. How exactly do you apply it? Just hold it over the dent?

Basically, make sure you make contact at the center of the dent. I mean, it's a little hit or miss depending on the dent but it's worth a try. &don't forget your gloves!

This is what I did today at lunch. I just got my car 12 days ago and of course some D-bag sorority daddy's girl (I'm somewhat upset right now) parked next to me in her FJ cruiser. My speed and an M5 were the only two cars for hundreds of feet and she had to park next to me, thanks! I look at the door, everything ok. THEN I look at the driver side mirror, I have a nice silver scratch across it now. DAMN, I buffed out as much as I could, and you can't really see it at all unless you get up and really look for it, but every time I go up to get in the car, I see it and get pissed. DAMN

There are many many , many stone chips on my car and each one pains me. There is one next to my door handle and of course I see it every time I get in. drives me nuts. I do not like people as much as I used to after my door got dinged by somebody. I have already priced a new windshield for next season. This was the summer the state and counties decided to oil and stone every road I drive on at some point ughhh. being kinda anal retentive with this car really is not working out for me

~3000 miles and I hit a beaver! Caved in the right front bumper cover. $900 damage, but they did an excellent repair with a lifetime warranty.
