Hope for us Auto Guys yet...

Uploaded more pics to the above post.

thanks for the pix! exactly what temperatures r u reading... haha keep that cold air intake cold

Trans temps are about 180-210 on the hot side and 150-180 on the cold side at the extreme.

Intake temps are about 3-4 degrees above ambient temps. Which isn't bad considering the air is getting picked up off the hot asphalt.

i heard change them 70k - 80k miles??? anyone else hear something different?

I've been changing my fluid at 30,000 mile intervals. It might be excessive, but I swear I remember reading that interval in some Mazda maintainence schedule somewhere. The filter should be changed every 60,000 miles. I've been using Red Line D4 fluid.

I am sure my tranny fluid has been changed when I got my car over a year ago. But Im not sure if it what kind of fluid and just want to but the best in.

That cooler looks sick Tom.

I believe the onwer's manual states Ford Mercon V, but the Red Line D4 and Royal Purple and Mobil 1 equivalents should satisfy the Mercon V criteria.

i might be too scared to do the DIY... but i bet it'd be a money saver... a shop said they will swap out the whole thing to the ST... that should be somewhat easier to do than a AT -> MT swap i suppose

Crazee D- enlighten us about this Torque Converter... pros? cons? installation? chick magnet? hahaha

not in yet

i still think a MTX mayb easier way to go

but my motor in my other car was blown due to mis shift/human error(not my human error)... so i am liking built controlable auto's right now....

auto tranny and been boosted about 50k miles, no tranny isssues at all...i don't beat it but i do push it, no neutral drops...i have the lentech valve bodies, awesome mod! tranny cooler going in this fall....had it for a yr now, just getting around to installing it finally(hand). i haven't been on the dyno, but @ 6psi, probably about 160hp...? i have no cats and the RB cat back. i had the mpi on the car, but just couldn't tune it right...i'm using the begi rrfpr and fm O2 clamp, works awesome!! for those who haven't boosted their auto, it's just not the same car...i could never go back!!:D

nope, i'll do it some day....next yr i probably looking at a new car...so this will become a "project" car...i'd really like to build the engine and tranny (lentech street terminator $3k+-)

i was going to get the purple oil from ProtegeGarage... but that's me... i heard change them 70k - 80k miles??? anyone else hear something different? will look more into it... may have to edit this post when i do find out
Have had the same Hayden stacked plate cooler 18000gvw as tom03es for couple of years running AMSOIL atf. It's good for 70k & supposedly cooler temps than other atf. Changed mine to this at 35k, am around 80k now, have the filter & am about to swap fluid again. Not going to 105k like advertised. Trying to score the VB & do that all at the same time. 2 gallons of AMSOIL is about 100.00 then about 30 to have lube place put it in their machine & pull 95% of old out while pushin the new in & no mess & hassle vs. at home yourself. That's 30 I'll spend everytime. Done in less than 1/2 hr without a hassle or mess. stacked plate cooler 30% more effecient than tube & fin coolers.

Guys I just realized I never changed my tranny oil. Should I do so and what should I use? Also, how hard is it to do?

u let ur foot off the gas before u shifted..... i wish the clarity was a little better to watch the RPM drop... other than that, very nice! i forgot u said half-throttle and was like omg he's not that fast.... hahha maybe next time at a place where you have to increase speed... perhaps entering a highway instead of the trooper's street hahha.... ive been waiting for that vid.... thank you bazooka

fish-earlier posts show what choices of oil there are and approximately when to do it....

i'll work on putting some info on the first post

It's not really that hard, just a potential fluid mess if you're not careful & requires more than one person so you have someone to play start/stop engine guy while the other juggles fluid containment & signalling key worker. MERCON V is the fluid type. AMSOIL synthetic atf will get ya double service intervals. Just make sure whatever fluid is mercon v compatible.

edit - IIRC the service intervals were 35k for oem fluid & 60k on the filter?

ya, i do that real quick, just trying not to bust the tranny....i really don't need to though at that low psi...i'm doing another vid flat out, just gotta find a road.(drive)..around here there is so much traffic and cops it's nuts!(crazy)

i12drivemyMP5-that's what i read and hear from people

bazooka_joe-safest is at the track lol... dont get busted trying to do the vid... or else that will be funny, for us and not you, if you have the cop chasing you in the vid

hahaha i just happen to be on youtube still after the video and found this vid... added March so it's fairly new and very new to me

The Protege Song

i cant believe i just threadjacked my own thread.... so let's not get too carried away... (-.-)

and let me add this.... this was on a diff thread... in regards to the 626 manifold

"You pick up some ponies in the higher-RPM range where the stock manifold has issues but the low-end loss in torque isn't worth it in N/A applications in my opinion. Hell, I have a turbo and there was a noticeable loss in low-end torque so how do you think that would translate into an N/A car? I'd stick with a VTCS-less stock manifold because you maintain power where it's most used and gain a little up top from increased flow" - magnumP5

My friend Albert turbocharged his auto silver p5 and is probably putting up the same numbers as you bazooka joe. I wish he would chime in on the thread.
