best Mufflers for 1.6 pro's

i have a 99 protege LX, 1.6L, and im looking to get a new muffler. I want it to sound better. obviously it wont sound greatttt but i was wondering which mufflers anyone has used, keep in mind my engine is still stock. i dont want it to be like.. really annoying sounding, and like toooo ricey cause its still stock and it would just be ridiculous, so if anyone has an experiences with mufflers and could give me a good suggestion.... thanks.

How much are you looking to spend? If you can wait until the end of the month I've got a complete (cat-back) Thermal R&D exhaust that retails for 600 for much less.

well i wasnt lookin to spend too much, but ill check it out. i was thinking of jsut getting the muffler for now, and then eventually gettin the entire exhaust kit when money isnt as tight.

i have a HKS super Drager and i really like it, it sounds unique, and sometimes exotic, its quite low pitched on idle, you dont hear it much at idle, but when you rev, it sounds nice,,,the only mod i have is that i've replaced the zm-de exhaust header with the zl-ve header that i bought scrapped, i also got the muffler used out of japan, i think it retails between 300-500 USD, not sure

dunno, the protege is heavily flared, i.e. big body kit so the muffler fits fine, but it is large, 2.5 inch inlet, 4 inch outlet

LOL at stock one. Got CAI and 2" sports catback but after a better muffler... HKS and Apexie are good brands but i am not into the cannon type really.

i love the HKS super Drager, it sounds different to the usual rice you hear all over the place(check for the sound on youtube) and i was really amazed cus even though i havent redone my entire exhaust, after installing it there was an increase in performance

What model of HKS super drager did you use? 2" inlet I guess?

get magnaflow and if it's too loud get a silencer too

magnaflow isnt loud at all. its one of the quietest best performance exhaust out there.

im lookin at the magnaflows, now i know its a 2.5 inch inlet, but what length, they have 14s and 18s. i would think 14 would be louder? or is that just for fitment (if thats a word) under the car and also the total length...and what kind of offset do i need. center/center or offset/center or center/dual..... etc.... which works for 99 protos. haha

i bet 14 is for p5 18 is for sedan length. i bet center center is straight muffler center offset is for teh JDM style cocked to the side
