That's badass man! I'm from Frederick and am moving back there, so we're gonna have to hook up at some point for either a mini-meet or for s**** and giggles. I'll be down and around DC quite a bit I think.

It's pretty simple - 90 300ZX Twin Turbo, intake/catback exhaust/boost controller/ECU/Jspec front bumper and a few other little things. Located in Quakertown, PA

Mmmm, I love a clean car like that. Which lens were you using for the first picture?

I'm kind of pissed off right now, cause I went to the STPR Rally America event last weekend and forgot my camera... Saw some amazing things and couldn't do a damn thing about it.

Canon 70-200 2.8L IS for the first shot, 16-35 2.8L for the second

How could you forget your camera for an event like that? I keep a checklist of items that I go through before I leave my place to ensure nothing is missed (ie clothing, clean underwear lol). I did that one weekend, forgetting my gym bag with the basic essentials.

Well I was really good. I charged my battery right before hand, packed the 2GB card right before I left the door... And promptly left the bag sitting on my bedroom floor. I realized about an hour into the drive what I had done. It was 5 in the morning and I was slightly hung over. On the other hand, it was REALLY dusty and the sensor would have had a fit. Next year I promise pictures...

On the other hand, I did get this with my buddy's bad point-n-shoot. I have a larger copy that I'm going to edit up:

So I'm leaving to go to Las Vegas for a little over a week. The first week I can't do much shooting during the day, but I would imagine it wouldn't be too good anyways due to bright sun and desert. The first 2 days I ahve to help set up a booth for a pro audio convention, then I'm free to to walk around the show floor for the next 3 days, then I have tear down the booth the 3rd night. After that, I'm going to some places like the Hoover Dam, maybe the Grand Canyon, and maybe some other stuff. Any tips or advice or any last minute things I need?

My equipment list is:
Nikon D50
Nikon 28-70
Nikon 55-200(AF doesn't work)
Sigma 135-400
Sigma 10-30

Nice trip, you're all so lucky these days. I've been to LV and the grand canyon. Of course this was 25 years ago. Only pictures I have are from a crappy 35mm point and shot. Heh.

Although I've never been to Las Vegas, it seems to me the photographic opportunities at night are endless. Try and focus on the play of lights and movement (cars, signs, water fountains, etc.) Try and take a look of images online to see what others have done, what they have done well, and what they haven't tried. I would mix a little of what others have done well with stuff they haven't tried.

This points brings me to something I don't think is largely talked about. Emulating a skilled artist is not "copying," a term which has a negative connotation in the art world. This is because as much as you think you can, you most likely can not copy what other photographers have done before you. However, by placing your self in a similar situation and seeing it through your own filter, through your own lens, you can create something unique. Besides, a lot of the effort that goes into to taking a good picture of a subject is location and how you approach that subject. Emulating photographers who are more familiar with the city can give you a head start in creating your own unique images.
