Twiggy Sticks Install, tuning and results thread

Sleepy: to get your vics activation point dialed in perfectly, turn it off, and do a dyno run. then turn it on (always on, on from 0rpm) and do another dyno run. The point where 1 dyno run crosses another dyno run will be the optimum place to activate VICS.

Wow, not like any dyno graph I've ever seen (which is few)
So this is with ur cams in and a MT?

93.1kW = 124.8hp. This is 2kW LESS than the Dynamic Test Systems dyno with just an exhaust and unichip. Just goes to show you need to compare apples with apples.

FP 1.8 with Twiggy Sticks, Injen CAI, Pacemaker Header, Racing Beat cat-back, emanage Ultimate.

Flywheel estimate was 113.2kW(151.7hp).

The dip at 5k has always been there since new and the tuner couldn't get rid of it. It can be felt when driving. Possibly to do with the VICS activating? If that's the case, it appears the point could be moved up a bit?

Apparently, the Innovate WBO2 is reading a bit rich, so I've been running slightly lean until the dyno tune. Scary. So is the rough street tune. Professional tuning FTW.

Oh, I see, I was thrown off by the A/F plot

So the other is just hp/power right? No torque figure?

Oh and **** vics too....

Cool to see results! Haven't mentioned it here yet, but regrettably my FI sticks are for sale in the link in my sig ...

Yes, thank you I do know this, but I would like my dyno to show it too.
Just add another colored plot on that graph.

That's a good, simple idea. Haven't tried anything with the VICS yet. I'll have to figure out how to get the emanage to do that.

I only got 2 graphs, this one and the other is of the estimated flywheel torque/power. There are 2 big holes in the torque curve, one for the VICS and the other weird one around 2,500rpm.

I do have the tabled data for all 41 runs though!

Jeez that is a few runs!

LW's idea sounds similar to the approach to mapping a VTEC crossover point where gains can be maximized for both conditions. I think it also ensures smooth transition between states of on/off. Great advice!

They weren't all max power runs.

It took a while to try and (unseccessfully) smooth out the VICS and fix my rather poor quality "I'll finish it later" street tune. Shame I couldn't be there to play with the VICS etc.

I left the dyno and did 0-100kph(0-62mph) in 8.2 seconds. Don't laugh! It used to take me about 10.5 when stock, so that's over 20% quicker, still NA. I'm very happy with it . And it sounds sooo cool.

I'd say thats better then MSP's stock time.

Did you upgraded to GOLD Emanage or still rocking BLUE version ??

I think i'm giving up on the Emanage, as soon as i try a map it gives cell in the spot. Are you experiencing the same ??

sleepy, when you do the vics on and vics off run, make sure you turn the vics activation point about 100-200rpm below the change over point, because it takes a short time to open, and then it should be open at the right time

Crazee D do you have any other exhaust vids other than you sig? Drive buys?

Emanage Ultimate. Auxilliary output powers a relay that disconnects O2S at 50% TPS (or whatever load desired) and forces the Mazda PCM open loop so the emanage can do it's thing to fueling without the PCM fighting it. No problems with ignition timing. My car has an OBDI PCM and has never lit a CEL during all the stupid things I've done to it.

Twilight: Thanks. It will have to wait a while though, I may need to pay the excess if I can't find the person who backed into my car yesterday. White commercial vehicles don't like my car. So far it's been hit by a white ute and 3 white vans! Twice I wasn't even in it and another time I was stopped at an intersection! It feels like a giant magnet.

How long does it take you 2.0L guys to do 0-100kph(0-62mph)?

that was with n2o yeah. w/o n2o (the 14.576 pass) it was not too much slower, still under 6 seconds. on the street, no where near as quick (aka no traction)
