Anyone thought of shifting the side moldings?

to this, drawing out the top longer in appearance maybe by running the line higher?:

Anyone think moving the moldings up to the door handle line would have an elongation effect visually and make her look even more streamlined?

Before people hate on you, I think you've done a good job of thinking outside the box. I, personally, think it wouldn't look good.... but if there was a way to punch a line into it (like in the Acura TL) that it might work. I wouldn't spend my time or money on it, but if anyone has photoshop skills, maybe they can whip something up(poke)

TL MS3.webp

Mock not, I am a bad photoshopper, especially with MS Paint, fricking MarioPaint ova heah. Hehe.

They can hate, I'm ready. I love my MS3 like my reproductive attachments, maybe more because I can use it all day without getting tired! I just am trying to think of a way I might differentiate from the wing tips, nose tips, carbon fiber whatsits, and debadgers.

See my shoddy photoshop attempt. lulz

You know, I can see it how it does make it look longer and sleeker. Also just noticed the Indiana Jones reference in your profile. Man, I grew up to those movies!!!

I have thought of that but not quite so high up the doors. maybe more inline with the top of the wheel arches. and to be most effective it would need to stretch from the front all the way to the back

I really like it at least from my horrible attempt at photoshopping via M(ario)S Paint.

You're the first person to notice the Indy! I grew up on them too; the last bastion of film purity until Spielberg goes back and replaces the Nazi's handguns with walkie-talkies. (boom07)

Definitely thought about it to make them functional as they are just too low where they are. I would not go as high as the handles though. About 3" more and you should be right where you need to be. I would suggest using a chalk line on it before taking them off so you will get a nice straight line again. Jst mark out about 3 or 4 spots then with some help, just chalk it with a chalk line.

Yeah, no.

The TL has that line creased into the sheet metal. trying to stick your moldings higher up on the car will look like exactly that...you tried to stick your moldings in a place they dont belong. That's the kind of stuff you point out to your friends and laugh at in the parking lot.

Not to mention the body lines on the 3's shoulders are curved, while the moldings are straight.

It's a dumb idea. The 3 looks great as it is. Doing cheap-o body mods will get you nowhere but laughed at.

That's it, one, "It does kind of elongate," and one, "Dude that sucks and it's stupid," and nobody else has any opinion? I KNOW the TL has the things into the metal, but either way it's just a 'look' of a line in that area. I think to 'pull' this off on our car you'd need at least one more set of side moldings to extend it back just beneath that line/ridge at/over the handles where there's a kind of crease. I really would like to see someone's earnest Photoshop attempt versus my bad MS Paint one...

R.I.P . Tourettes guy

Did that guy die?

Just to show I am not deviating from topic, I would not do it. Either leave them where they are or remove them completely. I may have to go this route. The ****** rear molding caught my fromt one the other day when I opened the back door and basically bent both of them U shaped leaving a partial separation (1/8 inch or so) from the door about 1 inch each direction. Looks even shittier than the moldings now. Who designed these to fit that close to touch like that? Seems like everyone has had that problem. How do you get these off?

j/k! I know there is a thread somewhere.

UGH DERRR DUH DURRR WHY DON'T YOU USE YOUR SEARCH BUTTON MOUTH-BREATHER THERE IS A SEARCH BUTTON FOR A REASON WHY DON'T YOU SEARCH FOR IT UNH DERKA DURRR

hehe

I've had the same front door-back door open '****' problem, it was day TWO of ownership, I was so pissed. Now I got them adjusted back just fine, but I also KNOW now...

Wait for it...

And KNOWING is half the battle!

Ha! Great simulation of the typical response when someone asks a question! People have to realize the average person asking an "easy" question probably does not spend all day on here. Plus their post count is usually like 3 or 4 when they get jumped on.

OK, on topic...Yeah I am very hesitant now every time I open that back door. I don't really want to go through the work of re-positioning, but also am unsure if I want to remove them completely.
