Good CAI for Speed3?

What do you guys think? I think the price is a bargain, but haven't heard much about this specific CAI. Do you guys think I'd be better off going with a more trusted brand/shop?

I am also considering a SRI. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

get Mazdaspeed CAI, you can keep your warrenty with that one.. i have it and love it..

Go with a SRI and you will not have to worry about dropping $7k for a new motor due to hydro-lock. Hydro-lock isn't covered under warranty.

The cobb sri is a ton easier to maintain / install and achieves the same gains as any other CAI without the hassle. Plus it's a lot cheaper $$$

As far as the warranty goes, I haven't had a problem going in with my cobb sri only compliments as to making a great choice. If you're really worried about the warranty it only takes about 20min to switch back to stock.

The Cobb sri makes the car sound pretty wicked as well.

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I'll go with the Cobb SRI. I read somewhere that MazdaSpeed pulled their CAI. Never figured out what the cause was or if they reintroduced it to the market. Have you guys heard anything about that?

I believe the MS CAI was causing a "lean" issue and hence Mazda pulled it from the market. No such problems with the Cobb SRI.

go with CPE cai or cobb SRI. cpe and cobb are very good companies and i have had both intakes in my car. they're both great products

little pricy but damn good product and love the sound of the

CP-E here, never mind the power increase, I get way better gas mileage about 2L/100km so roughly 12$ per tank.

is the Injen CAI any good?? I havent seen barely anybody who has it and I always hear good things about the COBB SRI. The dyno from the Injen site shows some good hp increases.

Tubing is tubing but it's the cheapass filter that will get ya. I read a report on how cheaper "ebay" intakes are a good deal but it's because of bargin parts. A no name filter is usually the way the price is kept cheap and if you look at a filter compairson you'll see why you want a good filter. Not tryign to sound like an ass but please be aware of these things.

I've heard good things about every intake, but I believe a CAI would benefit better on our FI engines.

Hydrolock is hard to do (depending on where you live) and if you decide to track the car, I think either is fine. If you're drag racing, I think a SRI would do worse than a CAI in terms of initial IAT for off the line performance. I'm still deciding what to get as well since I have a gut feeling that AZ wouldn't be forgiving to have a SRI and soak up hot air.

THe metal tubing found on the CAI's heat up and cause the air to be warm. The cobb sri isn't metal and it actually prevents hot air. The differances in temps are most likely very minor.

I ran a 13.97@99.92 when it was hot as hell here in central florida after waiting for about 2hrs in the hot sun with the Cobb sri, probably could have done a little better.

Nice! I am still torn on the SRI vs CAI debate so don't mind me! I did however have the Injen CAI on my Celica and I loved it.

Well anything is a lot better than the stock air box. I just think that for the $$ the Cobb SRI is the best deal by a long shot (plus i'm scared as s*** about getting hydrolock) The Hp/Tq gains are going to be very similar amongst the different intake systems.

hydo lock ?!?!? ha ha ha ...anyone who hydro locks their car with a cai is a friggin moron and deserves it ! i bought the mazdaspeed cai because it was the only one available when i bought my car. knowing what i know now, i say get whatever is the cheapest $$$. all the bells and whisltes some of these places try to charge you extra for do mean s***. like a air flow straightener. you dont need it. sure it keeps keep you fuel trims close to zero, but does that matter ?? no, not one tiny bit. i have seen my car have long term fuel trims off by less than 2% or as high a 18% off and guess what, the car never missed a beat ! thats why the ecu has fuel trim correction. i say buy a real CAI not SRI reset the battery and give the car 5 driving cycle to adjust your fuel trims thenbeat the piss out of it. that is my method AFTER EVERY MOD !!
the cobb SRI being metal might not get warm like a cai will, it just sucks up the hot engine bay air ! it has been proven time and time again though on a turbo car THAT IS MOVING there is almost no difference in actual inlet air temps between a cai and SRI. but at a stop you will heat soak faster with a sri.
