Bloody brake dust!!

yeah polishing the wheel does help keep dust off. So will changing pads. I went with hawk, and the rears dont have as much dust collection as they did with stock

well its also because the rears dont do as much braking work as teh fronts do.

my fronts are always dirtier than my rears.

not for my 3. i'd always have so little dust in the front, and 3 times as much in the back. I thought it a little odd and told the dealership about it, they said its normal, but when i went to change my pads, my rears were 75% gone while my fronts didnt even look worn out so i just changed my rears. i'm waiting until about 50K to see if its wearing out unevenly again and if it is, im going to bring it to a shop

i cleaned my wheels really good then put zanios on them then a couple coats of wheel wax it comes in a black container some automotive stores sell it and now i can just quickly rinse them off and it goes right away...not much build up either as it makes the surface slick

You've got a problem.

You've got a problem.

Agreed. Fronts should wear out much quicker than rears. While you are driving around look at all the cars whose front wheels are coated more heavily than the rears (kind of a personal study).

To the OP, changing to ceramic pads will help tremendously and as stated, putting wax on them will help make the clean up much easier.

E-brake much? (lol) My front wheels are always gunmetal and my rear ones are relatively clean. One of my buddies super polished my right rear wheel ONLY so now I look like a complete jackhole driving around with a dirty ass MS3 (BRIGHT ******* RED!!!) with one shiney clean wheel. (pow)

well you dont drive around with the ebrake on do you?

no, but i havent been keeping records of the work i've been doing so they might void it

so the answer might be yes

Bloody break dust? I thought this may be a thread about road kill remains on unwashed tires.

the only records that they really need is oil change info...but that's only if you have issues related to your engine and whatnot. you're working with weird braking behavior, and that's way different.

+1
Not only that, you have a potentially dangerous problem. Your brake balance is clearly off with a heavy bias to the rear. This has to affect how your car responds in situations when you are braking hard going into turns. In addition, I bet your stopping distance is much longer than it should be. I would be a model example of safe, sane driving until I got that sorted out if I was you.

HA! i am a model of safe driving. Gas is expensive and i accelerate only slightly better than a snail with a huge ass shell on his back.

So i guess im going to the dealer either tomorrow or thurs to get this checked out
