What are Bump Rubbers??

I got my Tein S-techs in today,and I was planning on installing them tomorrow. So i read the instructions (if you could call it that) and it said to cut the "Bump Rubbers". So this is to anyone with Tein S-Techs installed, what are the bump rubbers and is it essential that i cut them? Any sort of help is appreciated.

the bump rubbers are what your suspension bottoms out against at full jounce (compression). They suggest cutting these to effectively give the suspension more travel before bottoming out to reduce how often/easily you bottom after installing the lowering springs.

After doing that, I would expect that any bottoming out that occurs could be pretty harsh. I suppose that's preferable to the more frequent bottom outs that you would get without cutting them down, though.

With my cars as daily drivers, that's why I never had the courage to drop 'em. Oh....and my wife wouldn't let me.

Thanks man! But the springs didn't some with any bump rubbers, so thats why I was so confused by the instructions manual.

Hi, You have two sheets with the Tein springs. One is a chart that tells you how much Tein recommends cutting the bump stops front and rear. Look up your Mazda 3 on the chart. The other sheet is instructions on where to cut the bump stops according to the chart. The bump stops or Bump rubbers are located around the strut piston under the rubber accordion lookin boot. Feel free to PM me if you need any more help! It may be best to just have a shop do it that can do an alignment right after.
