Has anyone ever beaten a sti or a evo off the line or from rolls? (More interested in off the line) If you did what mods did you have and what rpm did u launch it at?

Stock for stock evo / sti's are about even with a ms3 from a roll. However, above 100mph the MS3 is faster it seems. Racing a MS3 from a roll is like racing a low to mid 13 sec car which is what the evo and sti run in the 1/4. From a dig Evo / sti's run like mid 13's stock so you would need CAI and a couple other mods to be able to hang. In my limited experience with EVO's and STI's they get me off the line almost every time and I'm immediately like a full sec behind them and playing catch up but not losing anymore ground to them (at the track...) Lets remember not to talk about street racing so we can keep this open for a little while

I beat an STI from a roll. I was barely creeping away from him at first but as we got into higher speeds the MS3 was getting further away from the STI. The STI was stock. After getting off the highway we stopped and talked a little. He was very surprised at how much power the MS3 had.

I had only a CAI on my car.

I think that from a stop the STI would take the MS3 just because he would have a lead off the line because of AWD and I would need to much of a good stretch of road to catch up.

Now if the MS3 is modded and STI as well lord knows. I guess it will depend on who spent the most money on there cars and did the best mods.

agree on stock evo/sti from a roll have no chance vs our car.....but in my area most modd sti all top 400 whp/400 tq to all 4wheels.....no chance vs them...=(

beat stage 2 wrx. nothing special, but i asked him, "do you wanna run?" and he said, "is that even turbocharged????"

lol.

My roommate drives an Evo. I've got an intake on my car and his is stock....we've never raced, but having driven both cars, from a roll i'd say we're about even. He would smoke me on a take off though...can't compete with an AWD clutch dump.

His car is a blast to drive, it handles like no other.

I've beaten 2 evos(mods unknown)by a few cars off a roll, but ive never ran off the line. Never ran a STi. Beaten 1 S2k from a roll no problem. Beaten my friends 350z many times off a roll, but when we ran off the line his car would pull out lil by lil after every shift...he had won by a fender that time(4th run). I'm not the best driver , but i'm not the worse. I'm guessing it was because of heat soak...we sat for a while talking before we had our 4th run. I love my 3 :) . Wish i had awd though. Sry for blabbering, just thought it might be interesting to know.

I have taken a few STI's from about a 50mph role in belair (hickory bypass) not by much but about a half a car, and his car was cobb stage 2 and a few other goodies running about 16psi in the dead of summer...never really messed with any EVO's played around with one in ocean city but thats about it.

This sounds crazy, even though it happened to me.

But...
Last week from 30 roll My buddy in his Cobb stage 2 suspension and stage 2 performance STI (plus intake and a custom dyno tune) vs my 08 MS3 w/ Cobb intake was pretty much dead even. He at most got half a fender.
We went up to around 95. We had to let off there, but i dont think it would have changed much at any higher speed.
I havent dynoed mine, but his dynoed 280 ish whp and 310 wtq. That was on a dyno dynamics awd dyno.
Sounds funny but we were both surprised.
He even went as far as to tell me that would be the only type of race I would win. (Oh, there was no driver error.)
( This was on a old abandoned air strip.)

I have a feeling that when my 245/45/17 Nitto Drags get put on, the "from a dead stop" is going to be a LOT better.

Years ago I had a Camaro SS. Ran a 13.8 (automatic). I then put on a 3200 rpm stall converter and Nitto Drags and ran a 12.7. So no horse power gains, just some sticky drag radials and a 3200rpm launch.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of 60' I'll be able to pull. My best yet with a front drive car was a 2.0 in my Nissan 200SX SE-R with factory tires and factory LSD.

Off the line, unless you're running slicks or some really sticky tires, there's little chance of beating or even hanging with an STI or EVO. From a roll is a different story.

I've hanged with an STI and EVO from a roll and tried an STI from a stop -let's just say I saw the STI's tailights. From the sound of his exhaust I'm pretty sure he was modded but I doubt it would've been any different if he was stock.

What is the difference in your shifting with the TWM shift base brushing?

The best way to describe it is the shifter feels less 'mushy'. It also seems a little easier to speed shift. I never had issues stock and tried them because they were cheap, easy to install and everyone had only good things to say. I'd definitely recommend them.

sorry guys due to forum rules i am closing this thread due to street racing talk... (also its probably going to turn into a flame fest eventually like they always do anyways)
