HKS SSQV BPV/BOV owners please chime in!!

ya i got the cp-e kit also... it was an ok kit something needed to be changed out/around... like a tubing that wouldnt connect correctly and had to go buy new tubing and clamps and that stupid snap ring make you want to junk the thing till you get it in, then your extremely happy :-) the version 2 combo pack im pretty sure is the same... and with the bolt on specific one im still thinking its just a vta kit i think you should call pg

cpe comes with everything u will ned for mounting the valve, changing valve setup. i think p garage is just the valve. i just checked and its 189 but i think u have to buy the flange to mount, recirc fittings etc. serparately

my hoses and everything worked fine, the only problem was that HUGE ring to mount the valve to the flange

Hmmm...my understanding from PG is that one kit comes put together with everything, and all you need to do is bolt it on and plug it up. The other one (the cheaper of the two) comes with everything, just not put together yet. So your saying the CP-e one is not put together, but it comes with everything? I'm just wondering because I can get that one locally for $270 and pick it up today on my lunch break. I know I could get it assembled and all from PG and take the price down with that 10% review discount, but I'm saving that for when I order the CS DP...

Munnugles: Was the snap ring a b**** just because its stiff to bend in place, or is it that whole manual dexterity thing that it needs to be finessed into place? Did you need any special tools for it?

just get which ever is cheaper, save ur self 10 bucks and put the ring in urself...its a b**** tho.

i had to buy special pliers/clamp things form the auto part store. They worked fine its just a wierd angle trying to work around the valve.

yes i bought the cp-e kit, it was 282 when i got it i believe
X2.
The snap ring is a pain but only requires one internal snap ring plier to install. The swap between recirc and vta is done with 4 allan screws. The top cap gets rotated to prevent the hood from smashing the valve which is done with 8 allan screws and tiny nuts. It is no big deal to set up and the CP-E kit comes with awesome dirrections.

I just ordered the HKS SSQV straight bolt-on kit from PG. I spoke with Ken and this kit comes assembled, clocked, etc...
According to PG, you just bolt it on and plug in the hoses and you're done...

Let's see if its so when I get it... I'll report back.

The HKS BOV seems to contact the hood if not properly installed/rotated to clear the underside of the hood. Something to do with a hose interface.

Can anyone with first hand experience explain...?

I got the one pre assembled...and i just put it on and it was good...but if i was gonna do it recirc it would have had to been clocked down so i can see where it might rub that way.

To the OP:

The more expensive kit is the Mazdaspeed3/6 specific kit together from HKS

The less expensive kit is the HKS flange from ATP and then a universal SSQV valve. The only difference is that you will have to mount he bov yourself.

ya the snap ring was a pain... i didnt do it myself but i watched and most of the time installing the hks was the snap ring... (i was mainly putting my bumper screws and bolts back on since we installed the cai, and bov)

well also since were on the hks bov thing and even tho i have it installed...
for u other guys that have the hks installed... did you splice the smaller hose and add that little filter thing... or did you leave it off... im thinking of taking it off if its not an issue so i can use that spot for the boost guage instead...

Definately let us know how it goes. I'm interested in this valve too.

Question for you though: You said PG sells the bolt-on-ready kit. Which is it ready for: vent to atm? or recirc?

ok i installed mine the other day it was a pain in the but if your going to run it recirc. you can rotate the BOV so some degree till it hits the flange. i already had a extra HKS BOV cause i bought 2 new ones when they redesigned them so i was one of the first people in the us to use the V2 SSQ ( the one with the fins on the side and is silver not chrome anymore ). SO all i did was buy a flange kit from a web site and also got the recirc adapter as a option with the kit just in case i wanted to recirc. mine.

first in recirc mode with my COBB SRI ( SRI= short ram air intake for those newbs out there ) you can only hear the BOV at WOT shifts mostly. i didn't like that so i capped the hose and now running mine VTA for now and i love HKS's sound but i'm going to buy a new one just because i'm tired of HKS's thats all i've ever used on my last three turbo cars i've owned were HKS's so i want a new sound now.
