Vandalism Thread

i don't have pics, but several years ago, my wife took this (SORRY 'BOUT SIZE)
337FD2.jpg

to a local bar that is right on a busy, well lit traffic circle. she parked it right out front and the area was very busy. well, someone managed to paint the cars out front with all kinds of strange symbols using black spray paint. the painting spanned the entire length and height of the cars- wheels, windows and all. it was so sad and she was uber upset. luckily, because the car had been treated so well in terms of polish/wax, the paint came right off with little work. some of the stuff in the crevices was a paint, but eventually it all came out with a little elbow grease.

good thing it came off
that looks so good
i was looking into gti's

thanks. that is an '02 337 gti. it's the german 25th anniversary gti. they only brought 1500 of them here, and for that one year. a couple years later, the us got their '20th' anniverary gti's. these cars were made in many colors, and in much higher numbers. the 337 and the 20th are essentially the same- 6 speed 1.8t, recaros, aluminum accents, etc. the wheels are different tho- the 337 had the sexy bbs rc. the mkIV gti like that are very nice cars. perfect, really. the prices were right, the car was quick in stock form but super easy to make pretty fast, fit and finish was great, etc. the new ones, the mkV, are WAAAY too expensive and too cramped.

something like that is just sickening. i can't understand what would make anyone damage any car for any reason, on purpose. a new car is one of the biggest purchases you make in your life, and for someone to have that much ignorance...it just goes to show how corrupt humans are.

Someone threw a bottle threw my back window and wrote a note saying I was going to hell because they didn't like my bumper sticker. How ironic is that? So because you don't like my opinion...you are going to destroy my property and tell me I am going to Hell? Nice...

While living in Chicago I had someone steal the radio out of my 66 Chevy Malibu. They didn't damage anything (car was pathetically easy to get into) and neatly tucked the wires back up under the dash before they left.
Same car a few months later after moving to a different neighborhood, two days after putting in a brand new Die Hard battery, I came out and the car won't start. Battery is gone. Someone cut the cables and took it. I replaced the cables and battery and chained the hood down. Next morning I come out and the hood is open the one inch of slack there was in the chain. I just smiled to myself, closed the hood and drove off.
In "America's Hometown", Plymouth, MA, I had some one trash the tonneau cover on my pickup. Seems a little odd that they did absolutely nothing to the truck itself but seemed to really dislike that tonneau.
I also had mother nature vandalize the same truck. The miserable old b**** dropped an oak tree on the bed. I had the last laugh though, insurance replaced the bed and the tree yielded a couple cords of great firewood.

One time I was at the theatre with my ex-gf and I came out after the movie, I saw a Cavalier or Grand Am that had this white stripe all the way from the front fender all the way to the back. At first I thought it was one of those racing stripes ppl get painted on their cars, but then realized it covered the windshield. I went around to the back of the car and saw it also covered the back window and then it also had been spray painted with the words "Park like an idiot". I can't remember anymore but I think he was in two parking spots, and so was everyone else down the row.

I couldn't believe it. I felt so bad for the guy, I was just about to go in to tell security when I see the guy and his gf come out to the parking lot and get inside his car without even realizing what had happened! When he sat down and realized he could see out his front window, he got back out and flipped...

I wouldn't go that far, but I have no respect at all for someone who parks in 2 parking spaces. Parking at my work is really tight and I will usually empty a soda on their windshield or leave part of a candy bar on someone's hood (in the summer). Back when I drove my old car I would park as close as humanly possible to their driver side door if I could. It was a Hyundai accent so I could really get into tight places that other cars couldn't. It always made me smile to think that these assholes would have to go through their passenger side door to get into the car.

To me, that is just a complete sign of arrogance & selfishness and I have zero tolerance for it. The other thing that people do here that piss me off is park next to, but not in, a parking spot. If the entire parking lot is filled up, sometimes people will park next to the last car at the end of the lot, which is technically in the street. Then someone parks next to that person and so on and so on. I've had people here do that to such an extent that they block the way out for some people because the violators are 3-4 cars thick. It infuriates me.

dude thats messed up, i dont care how bad their park job is, there is no excuse for vandalizing someone else's car (that includes your soda or candy bar example). If I caught someone doing that to my car just cuz i was in a rush and parked poorly, it wouldnt be their car feeling the damage

I completely disagree. I'm talking about the people that on purpose park over the line so that no one parks next to them. Soda and candy can get washed off, but it'll make them think about it next time. And parking out of bounds where people drive just because the guy next to you did it is inexcusable.

Let me also say that I work in a hospital and this BS happens in patient parking lots by employees that work here. We're supposed to be here for the patients and yet people do this crap. Again, infuriating.

Amazing how violent bible thumpers can get.

That would go well with one I saw years ago.

"Keep your rosaries out of my ovaries."

Don't I know it. I see all sorts of the opposite kind of stickers, along with every Jesus praising one you can imagine. I have never felt the need to damage their property or leave them a note to tell them there is no Hell...but you are going to rot like everything thing else.

it is undoubtedly annoying when ppl park over the lines, but it still doesnt give you a right to damage or even TOUCH their property. Try that when a cop is watching, he'll tell you the same thing that I am...

I am with you JBiird. That is just wrong. If it bothers you so much, leave them a note. I have done that before and there is no harm in that. It is likely to deliver the message (since you can actually write one) a lot better than a Snicker's bar on the hood....

I did mention I do leave notes. And while harsh sounding, I've dumped maybe 2 sodas and 1-2 candy bars. I realize that you still think that doesn't make it right, but I'm not a monster people. If anything, I usually leave a note that is harshly worded or like I said before, with my old car I would box them in if possible. And our security group tickets people for things like this up to the point of termination, but they never follow through on it. Hence, people just do whatever the hell they want to their own coworkers and our patients.

i am part of the group that feels it's completely inappropriate to vandalize another person's property. if you really want to let them know how you feel, stick on of these on their windshield. it can be completely removed without damage but will make your point.
