So I have to ask? Which HIDS to get?

So I was looking around for a pair of HIDS and was pretty set on the 3000k yellow ones cause a buddy of mine has a pair in his SRT 4 and they are rediculousely bright and awesome. But then I saw a pair of 30,000k HIDS which are like a pink/violet/purple color. Trying to get some opinions on everyone thinks about them. Im trying to go for something different since the 8k 10k thing has been played out and that my buddy has the 3k in his. Heres a pic of both in case interested... go to the scroll and look for the 3k and 30k.

30K is ugly ricey and illegal, so is 12K, 6K is the best blend of blue/light.
4K will offer the best visibility but it won't look very blue, more like white with a hint of blue.

headlights - 6000k
foglights - 3000k

anything else is just stupid (even though i have 6000k in my foglights - just couldn't get an H3C in 3000k)

+1
That's my exact setup.
You have to ask yourself if you want performance or looks, because as the kelvin rating goes higher the output will be lowered.

all OEM stuff is 4300K, fyi.

4000 or 5000K is all i would ever use. 6000 is pushing it.

3000K for fogs is nice, reminds me of lemans cars and while yellow, does offer good visibility in rain and fog.

i love when people buy 8, 10, 12K and think its cool... i guess their "eye" dyno thinks it's brighter.

30K? wow don't think i've seen that. i bet there's hardly any light output at all, that's approaching infra red lol

lol.. I dont about infra red lighting but I guess anything is possible. If you wanna see 30k.. click on the link @ the top in the 1st post and scroll down to the middle of the page where it shows all the temps of lights. I know the higher the kelvin the lower the light put and so forth.. just looking for something different since everyone has 8k & 10k. And I think people get them as a visual mod.. not because they think its brighter. Thanks for the input guys.

Good luck seeing anything at night in the rain with 30K HID's.......That's all I have to say.

I'd stick with 5k or 4500k in the headlights. Fogs I'd stick below 5k.

having never completed a install like this would I need to splice into my wiring for the headlights or could I use some sort of coupler? Forgive me if my terminology is incorrect.

Also I am a little confused shifting through all of the information, what Fog light HID should I go with if I want a bright yellow fog?

3000K is yellow.

and yeah i mixed up, infrared is on the other end, up top in the high kelvins is UV.

depending on the kit you'll have to splice. most of them are plug and play if you are able to get a car specific ballast. most require a power and ground from your headlight, fairly simple.

that's the nice thing about HID installs, is that the ballast does all the work, so normally you just have to give the ballast power and ground, and don't require a ton of relays or whatnot, unless you're wanting them to switch on without the headlights or some other, more complicated procedure.

i'm still on the fence about HIDs in my fogs. i know i'd use them (especially after that 70 car pileup on I-4 two weeks ago near my house in that horrible fog), but i must resist and spend cash on go fast first hehe.

edit - the stock fogs are aimed bad. they don't light up hardly anything. i have stock HIDs and have the level set at '3' - the highest they will go, and the only areas that the fogs actually help with are slight peripheral areas right near the car and slightly diagonal out from the front corners...negating any real use since if they lit up something, i'd be pretty much running it over as i saw it.

i may play with the aiming and see if i can get them to come upwards a tad, otherwise i have a feeling that getting HIDs in the fogs isn't gonna be as functional as i thought.

Isn't 0 the highest. I think 3 points it down the most.
