New a little help from the big modders...

your improved flowing TMIC will have less pressure drop which results in boost level increase >>>>>> which will award you with boost cut unless you use the ATP cut killer or the map clamp as laloosh suggested

But doesn't the boost control manage boost pressures?
Won't I still be boosting stock levels...? I thought we had a boost controller with adjustable wastegate...?

What exactly happens with boost cut? And why does it happen with stock boost levels; even if there is less air restriction...?

I dont think boost cut will be an issue. Only time will tell. Id order a map clamp just in case. 25 bucks is cheap.

I hit boot cut only once with ets tmic 3.25 + fujita cai + su testpipe. and i was hitting 17-18spi..but this was during summer months..from what i have read..winter months tend to be more problematic. especially weather in the 20-30's.

Why were you hitting 17-18 PSI...? Did you raise your boost level?

I am not planning to raise boost until someone gets a PnP...

Are you guys saying that with unrestricting the intake and exhaust the stock boost pressures automatically increase...?

Im running the tmic, testpipe, fujita intake and stock boost control right now. Im holding 15psi for a bit then it falls off to 12psi real hard. It must be my elevation. Because stock i was only hitting 13psi falling to 10psi. I have tried two different gauges to. WEIRD

I wouldnt run 20psi, unless you like blown up motor & turbo. 18 is the max I would ever run on this engine without getting it built. It would just be blowing hot air anyways.

my car did the same thing sock. But after the tmic its just flat out wierd. Sometimes the car will shoot up liek a rocket to 15 and hold it there till past 6k and other time it shots to 15 and continues to clie to 16 17 18 boost cut 12

I have the 3.5" with stock motor mount and I get no rubbing. When you mount it just take a look at the back near the cowl before tightening it down, make sure the back of the TMIC is sitting as parallel to the cowl as possible. There's a lot of play with how you can mount it, even the heat shield thingy that comes in contact with the ducting can be adjusted a bit.

So when the boost control sees 18 PSI it boost cuts down to 12 PSI...?
Why doesn't it cut down to 15 PSI and hold it there; stock level...?

I Did not raise boost levels..My guess is that since the Upgraded TMIC outflows the stocker..causes this spike.

I noticed today..in 40-45degree weather...on open stretch of road..the car hit 17-18psi in 4th and 5th gear. My car is completely stock at the moment.

Thing is..it will rapidly drop to around 15ish..

That's really not that bad... 1.5-2psi spike is what I consider ideal on a good setup, so that 3ish spike is not really too bad, especially in the higher gears. You could tune that out with a few simple tricks if you wanted to hold the 17-18 longer though.

(hmm)New question...

When you increase your boost from 15psi (stock) to 17-18spi, what do you yield as far as horsepower...? Is it a 5, 10, 15, 20HP gain...?

Just wondering if its worth it/significant improvement to raise your boost...

Thanks (2thumbs)

They say you gain ~10whp for every psi. So if you turn it up 2 psi..you should net around extra 20whp.

thats not a definite truth... it may be true that for the first 2 extra psi you would get 20 hp extra, but I wouldnt expect that correlation to continue linearly unless you have the supporting mods to allow for that increased flow

I've been spiking 18-19 (sometimes 20) in 60* weather... (shrug)
They tell me it might get worst when I install the upgraded TMIC...
