Cobb said the PROTuner will not be out till latter in the year. Not the street tuner!!!!!!!!!!!
I misunderstood and thought you'd be locked into the base maps until the ProTuner software comes out. But from the Cobb site, it looks like the AP allows you just to switch base maps and monitor parameters. The Street Tuner software will allow changes to Real Time maps. Those maps will govern a fair number of the ECU's parameters until it is reset or a base map is reinstalled. So you can up boost or whatever other parameters the Real Time maps cover and it just is not flashed to the ECU ROM. That can only be done by the ProTuner software in the hands of a Cobb-certified tuner. Correct?
Anyone have any data on how much the Subaru guys were getting with a Stage 1? or a Stage 2 with just an intake/exhaust?
here's a link to some WRX maps that include expected power gains:
http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/subaru/original/05WRXMaps.html
looks like if you can run 93 octane, you can get 15%/20% (hp gain/torque gain) for stage 1 and 26%/31% for stage 2. not bad for just getting a flasher + mods you already had!![]()
That's pretty nice, but it will be interesting to see if those percentages hold up since we're starting out with much higher output: 212hp/240tq (per their MS3 SRI dyno) vs. 170hp/175tq. Granted that's with our 2.3 liter compared to a 2.0 liter in the '05 Subie (92hp/liter vs. 85hp/liter), but this will go double for people with who already have picked 10-20 hp increases with less restrictive intakes. In that case, I think you're gonna have to go Stage 2 to get really significant increases. If so, I might do the opposite: take off the CAI and put the stock box back on. I'll miss the blow-off sound, but not the big sucking sound.
I dont see why they wouldnt include the CAI as part of the stage 1
The Stage 1 notes say you can use a Cobb intake, but I assume that the dynos and the corresponding increases in output are based on completely stock vehicles.

Are there any plans for the AP to have stage1 maps for speed3's with Mazdaspeed CAI's and CBE ?

dave@cobb said:Yes, we plan to do some testing on the MS CAI, not only for maps but also for FMIC clearance.
hmm....? I thought I saw a convo about how many Mazda speed CAI's were bought and Cobb said they understood this and were taking that into consideration.
It was like a MSCAI vs COBB

I'm buying a house and getting married this year, and I'm still flying an AP in under the radar.
(eekfu)
I really should have just married my Mazdaspeed3. LMAO
Yeah, I think they'll have a maps that will take into account both the stock box and an SRI/CAI. My point is just that the biggest gains from adding the AP will likely be for people with a stock box. If you have already have an intake mod, you have effectively already taken a lot of the potential gains off the table. But maybe not. Our stock box is pretty restrictive, so maybe the gains from intake and AP will be cumulative. I guess we'll see when they put up their dyno with just AP and then either their dyno with the SRI and AP or someone elses.
