And how did you get matching carbon around the radio? Did you buy whole thing and paint the inner matching silver?

DG Motorsports sells a radio surround that's carbon fiber. I had one myself, then got tired of it.
I believe what's posted in that pic is something that DG made at one time, but discontinued .. They made CF 'sides' for the radio surround, to overlay JUST the portions that have the fake CF look on the stock MSP radio surrounds, and that leave the silver portion still visible.
I'd kill for a pair, but they're virtually impossible to find anymore.

Got the alpine 9886 in today. So far, it's pretty cool. iPod controls works flawlessly and the unit made my stock speakers sound better. I haven't had much time to play with it, but I'm sure it'll suit me just fine. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be able to get the bluetooth adapter for my phone.

the only thing i haven't figured out is that when you're listening to the ipod, i don't know how to get back to the playlist without having to find the playlist from the master list.
for example, if i've got a playlist of 40 songs, and i'm already playing one, i don't know how to go to a specific song without having to press the search button, find the playlist and then find the song. it's probably easy (i hope it is) but i haven't figured it out yet.

Yes, it is a DGM part, but it was the entire piece that was damaged in the center part so I cut off the sides. They sold just the sides at one point.
Discontinued. Alpine CDA-9820XM It had the XM receiver built in.
