TCS and Stability Control need an off switch!!!

I pay $25k for a vehicle claiming to be sporty but I can't even drive it sideways in the winter when I want too! That is BS! I love the car and all but I really think these systems should be able to be turned completely off when the driver wants them to be. Anyone else feel the need to vent about this? Don't get me wrong they are awesome systems and keep the vehicle in control but I would like the option to turn it off when I want to drive 'sporty'!

You can turn off the TCS but not DSC. You haven't researched enough, my friend

And something I learned in the first snow fall. The TCS system which normally turns itself back on at 18 mph will let the tires spin WAY past that and stay off.

So turn it off... start rolling and then turn the wheel and gun it... you can get it sorta sideways before the DSC kicks in and ruins the fun.

But yes it would be awesome if it could be turned off entirely. Mazda is probably afraid some moron would turn it off, crash, then sue.

Just disconnect the battery and don't re-learn the steering angle sensor.

OR pull the DSC fuse.

I think.

And mine gets pretty sideways in the WI snow before the DSC ruins the fun. Far enough sideways to scare the wife and please my 2 year old (WHEE!!!) at least.

I can get it sideways too but I would like to continue the drift and not have the brakes kick in and throttle shut down. I'll have to look up this trick and also the fuse.

Yeah you can turn off TCS but it goes right back on after 20mph and that's not what Im concerned with its Stability Control that I don't like.

What I was alluding to is the "trick" of pressing the DSC button during initial startup, thereby killing both the DSC and TCS systems (and illuminating both icons on the dash)

Doesn't work on the CX-7. It reengages itself at 18 mph no matter what. I can understand why they did it though. Being higher than the mazdaspeeds, you have to worry about things like rolling over, so they pretty much made it dummy proof.

The TCS on the CX7 is most definitely dumb. I can get more traction "playing" with the gas than the TCS practically shutting down the car. Worst feature on the CX7 for sure. The DCS on the other hand is great. Snow and ice on the ground... turning a corner; no problem.

I donot see TCS off switch on the left sode of my dashboard. I see the dimmer siwtch but TCS off switch is not there?? Is there anyway i can turnoff TCS .

TCS is standard on all US spec CX-7's. And the off switch should be there. I don't know about the CX-7's for other countries.

If you do have a US spec CX-7, I'd ask your dealer about it, because there should definitely be a switch there.

From what I have gathered, there is no way to completely turn off TCS. Yes, there is a switch but it will always turn on automatically when you reach 10-15 mph.

yeah, i'm not entirely sure why they gave us a switch that we essentially can't use.....
