2006 Mazda 3 5-Door
Well i just got winters put on today from town fair tire in E.Hartford and I am keeping the originals to put back on in the spring time. Well, the tires that i got were recommended by the guy there and he said because my hatch comes with 17 inch wheels i need a pretty agressive tread. What i got was Hanook W300 Winter tires. I got an alignment and a balancing and ended up paying 819.13 out the door. I have never paid this much for tires and i am completely new to the whole swapping tires from winter to snow. I usually just get year round radials. So i just wanted to know if anyone else has paid this much just for tires? I thought it was a little steep.

holy sh*t! YOU GOT BENT OVER... hope you at least liked it.

you can get good tires for $90/each that amount. say you get steel wheels for 30/each. There you go for $480. I guess the alignment could be pricey, $90 maybe? It still comes to lower. You didnt get steelies so you paid approx $180 per tire...

that sounds normal. i paid $700 for my dunlop m3 winter tires and then it cost me $100 to get them put on the rims.

Well, on the receipt it says that the tires were 150 each so i guess it works out, i just didn't think that tires ran that much money. Unless you are getting some racing slicks, lol.

damn. what are you guys getting for winter tires?
I definitely get by with some hakappelitas or even some hankok lol...

those are all on smaller wheels. yeah its going to be cheaper with 16s. I am running 18s so its going to cost more and unfortunately the smallest rim you can put on the speed6 is a 17 but i decided i will just use my stock rims for winter and then get new ones in teh spring for summer. i'm not sure what the smallest rim a speed3 can use, i would assume its similar and if you have a speed3. If you don't then i'm sure you can go small and i assumed your car wrong.

That price isn't bad for a performance winter tire, so I wouldn't be too upset about it. You could have gotten a better price, but probably not for performance winter rubber. A quick browse of Tire Rack has had the Pirelli and Bridgestone performance winters around 150 - 200 a tire in a 17 or 18 inch rim size.

yeah, $150 a tire is hella expensive for winter tires. ANY winter tire (cheap or expensive) will work a whole lot better than standard all seasons. so just go as cheap as you can.

well, think of it this way, you don't run your winters year round (obviously), so they will last at least 5 seasons (i know my old Dunlop Graspics did). so spread the cost over that amount of time.

so you drive a reg mazda3 not a speed? sounds like you got ***** bro... thats deffinatly more tire then you need especially if you have a normal 3 like i think you do.

is it different than the Speed3? You can fit 16s on the 3

I have the exact same tire, 17inch in Mazda3 stock size.
Paid $730 CDN last year from a local shop, no rims. That was a pretty decent deal at the time.

If you got them from a local shop, that's what you expect to pay unfortunately. Ppl are saying you got *****, b/c Tirerack (your best friend) will sell some of the top end winter tires for about $110 each...

Btw, those tires are awesome, so for any price, you at least got good tires. Spread over 4-5 seasons, you really didn't spend that much money.

You paid a lot more than you could have by getting them online, but as Olestra said, that's pretty much around the amount you'd expect to pay from a typical shop with installation.

tirerack.comto buy, then find a local shop to install, mount and balance for 9/each.

hey servant, I'm from Socal and I am(stoned) kinda curious how my summer tires will hold up at the mountain in the snow. Have you been up yet?
