Intercooler Sprayer Question

im looking at buying the nos intercooler sprayer for my TMIC. I am going with the nos setup because i like the s shaped sprayer, over the oval. it seems like it is more efficient. But i was reading something from a honda tuner forum that said the intercooler added a bunch of power lost in heat soak. but they also said it dropped the AFR by 1. is this something that we would have to worry about, or that might cause damage to the car

we are running pig rich so it shouldnt hurt. what is most likely causing the drop in A/F is the ingestion of Nitrous Oxside in to the intake. im not the bigest fan of using nitrus to cool the intercooler. I see it as a waste of nitrus for the gain you get out of it, and with our topmount i dont think it will do anything good for all those hot parts right under the intercooler.

The shape makes no difference

Even if the pickup for your intake was right next to the intercooler sprayer, you wouldn't ingest enough NO2 to affect the A/F.
That said, CO2 is better for sprayers because it is cheaper and inert.

The drop is due to charge density. Cold air is dense air.

the best way to spray the intercooler is to do it with mother nature !!!

doesn't really work bcuz u can only spray it when it's puring rain like crazy...water goes thru the hoodvent, but u can't get traction to put down that added power...so yea , it sucks loL:P

Actually, that is the right idea.
I have a sprayer setup that just uses the washer bottle and pump for the windshield.
The only problem with a setup like that is it might fail tech inspection at some drag tracks because it is considered a leak.
Up side is you can fill it anywhere, though you are best to use demineralized water to keep from gumming up the IC.

Don't forget that with water, or any liquid, you've got to deal with the fact we have a TMIC, not a FMIC (stock). This means that water runoff will be a problem for us. Specifically, look under the IC and notice our coilpacks. They will not like being flooded with water, I assure you.

i seem to remember seeing a CO2 sprayer somewhere, but the main issue was that it was only good for about 2min of continuous spray before the bottle ran out...that's not very long...=/

A 5 lb bottle will go for 15 to 20 minutes continuously.
Since you only use it for 8 seconds or so at a time, you will go for a while.

This is what I have in my car, and it works like a champ, you might want to consider these:

AEM Water/Methanol Injection Kit

I suggest this also over the intercooler sprayers. Works alot better, makes more power, and richens the tune up alot so you can run higher boost levels and more timing if need be. Ill be going this route.

You could also just upgrade the tmic and that would do exactly what you are wanting also.

not.. that brand is kind of cheesy, these is what im talking about

AEM Water/Methanol Injection Kit

These toy is the s***, i have it, and no way ill go with a No2 Sprayer, not worth it, these works better, chemical intercooling its consider better, also as said under, you can advance the timing, up the boost and prevent detonation keeping the combustion chamber temperature cold.. its cheaper than refilling the nos bottle, these is just my personal opinion based on what i have installed in my car. i love it, big ass difference !!

I know this was mentioned. but I know alot of people on the evo forums worry about the spray getting into their intake, I'd worry even more since you are running a top mount. with that said, yes go with co2, its easier and basically just as cold. -running Meth is amazing! but also a huge step, not one that can be taken back quite easiely.

Besides the AEM logo, what's the difference between the two?

the features between them 2, the AEM has a bigger tank, 1galon, the other has 2 quarts, the AEM has 150 PSI pump, the other 140, and on and on, the AEM its better and have more options and features, read it your self and compare, read both specs and youll notice the difference
