Holy $#!+!! Vibrant CBE kicks @$$

Changing the S-pipe doesnt do much for performance gain from what I have heard...

I am sorry but I dont see how it couldnt help tremendously. When I removed the stock S pipe. It looks more restricting than anything else on the stock exhaust. I keep hearing people say that the S pipe isnt that much of a gain. But never have seen actual prove. Until I see actaul prove I believe the S pipe is one of the most restrictive parts on the stock exhaust.

Logically, that makes sense.

Why then did Vibrant not design it that way?

Hmm..... this is intriguing.

As happy as I am with this exhaust, as we all know... once you get bit by the performance bug, there's no end in sight. Can't have too much power!

well... having a FWD car, that's not actually true. but you knew what I meant

Maybe they didnt design it that way because it would be alot more dificult to make with the S pipe included. Nobody has ever been really quick to jump in and make lots of expensive parts for the MSP. Limited production vehicles suck for aftermarket support. Even corksport only di the 2.5" downpipe. That bend is hard to do with the ac condesor so close. The S pipe is a tricky part to make. It would be alot easy to produce an exhaust without the S pipe.

I really wish I could quiet down my Vibrant. Even with the can in it is still louder then I want. But mine is also modified to be a true 3" turbo back so mine is really loud.

Don't bother getting the S-pipe, it's not worth the hassle of the installation. The Vibrant exhaust produced 23whp on my car and I have the dyno graphs to prove it. I had FMIC and SplitSecond AFC at the time to lean things out, but those were installed before the exhaust. I put down 162whp before the Vibrant exhaust, 185whp afterwards. I sold it though because the volume and droning got on my nerves, especially on the long 6 hour drives from VA back to Rochester, NY (even ear plugs didn't help).

You only posted half of what I said...I said I hear people saying there isnt much performance gain, but more flow is always better in my opinion...

has anyone tried switching out the vibrant can for a different muffler. My buddy has a 300whp WRX with a magnaflow muffler that doesn't drone at all and he is running 3 inch turbo back.

ditto, my brother has a WRX with 3 inch turbo back to magnaflow and it sounds great. I am very partial to magnaflow though.

It occurred to me, but hell, you just paid $775 for an exhaust, you shouldn't have to spend another $300 in parts and labor for another muffler.

direct from magnaflow $129 bet you can find them cheaper somewhere else but that was a quick google hit, it would only be like 30 dollars for a muffler shop to weld that on to the vibrant. If your willing to spend $775 on an exhaust don't b**** when its loud, it has a straight through grapefruit shooter muffler what did you expect???

I found that same style muffler, in stainless steel, for $88.22 shipped, but Magnaflow really doesn't have any tips that fit a 3" outlet. Guess you could get everything done for under $900, so it's not that bad.

EDIT: Found a tip that would work. Part number 35206 which is $57 off eBay.

yea this is a fantastic exhaust. i loved it when i had it on my car and just recently switched out for the apexi catless. now it rests in my garage until it finds a new home..

The S-pipe is less than 2" ID on the first bend. The gains from it depend on your power level. The higher you go, the more that < 2" holds you back. When I swapped the stocker for a full 3", it went from 263 to 277whp.

Nice choice there chico... that thing sounds great, best sounding exhaust I have heard on a Protege. The power is definitely there too, it felt like I picked up about 20ish with the Magnus back in the day, same thing other than the muffler.

Enjoy it!
