Motor Mounts And Vibration

I had an SLS front mount and the vibes were crazy. I since switched to RR Racing front insert and it is much better but the front alone won't stop the engine from moving so I have AWR sides sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. I also have the RR Racing rear but I don't know if I will install it or not.

The only problem with SLS was they didn't use steal on their side mount brackets. They do now, and they have said anybody who bought one before can get a new steal bracket by calling them.

I have only read about one front mount breaking, and it broke with less than 200 miles because of bad welds.

Are you kidding me?

A) im not on a high horse
B) this is a public forum and i was stating my opinion about sls products
C) if i saw a company design something so poorly, i would be weary about their other products.

a) Soap Box? lol jk
b) I know
c) I will agree with you on this that the SLS products on their first batch never should of made it into production as they should of broke then in their beta testing on the L brackets. (They later corrected as stated earlier by someone else) Also the only other issue they had was due to a shoty welder of which they replaced and only a hand full of his mm that he welded got out.

Anyone get real bad vibratiosn on take of and a real bad buzzing noise tell you get upto roughly 2k rpms?

i just installed a filled front mount and its kinda buzzy up until 2k.
i dont mind it that much. what i do mind is this amazing grinding noise i now hear when starting and accelerating around a corner.
im hoping that its not the bell tolling for my lsd. anybody else have that issue. i didnt notice it with my half torn stock mount.

I'm running the SU mounts and really no complaints. Only thing is the vibs are more then before and things shake in the car. I'll be adding sound proofing and insulate the vibs. All this is usually when idle.

I have the full AWR set more vibes but only really at idle. the engine really feels a lot more solid though. and the whole rpm range is maybe slightly louder

Very true I agree.

But the difference when launching is night and day. If you got any plans on going to the track, you gonna need these.

*ps* your girlfriend will hate the noise, mine does.

I have the full AWR set as well and I wouldn't have it any other way. The vibration isn't noticeable after a day of driving, it doesn't distract or anything, but it will really transform the car. Everything feels SOOO much more direct and responsive. hard to describe.

haha that's exactly what i was trying to say, it kind of sounds dumb but it just feels.... "better"

Anyone ever figure out what teh rattling noise is from the dash when you have instaleld soild motor mounts?

The only real noticeable one is a vibration near the top of the gauge cluster. The vibration comes up through the steering column I think and then makes the clear plastic vibrate against the surround.

I installed the AWR side inserts today (I have the RR front inserts). The inserts are good and bad.

The Good:
Vibration is reduced
Less engine movement
Shifting feels better

The Bad:
When my idle dips to about 500 the vibration is very bad
Increased noise
Clutch chatter is worse

I plan to try cleaning/replacing the EGR valve to get a better idle.
I'll eventually get a new clutch/flywheel to fix the chatter.
The increased noise is bad, it feels like it is vibrating my brain. I plan to install some vibration and sound deadening products over the winter which should help some.

The install wasn't bad at all, it was just time consuming. I had no problems getting all the bolt/nuts loose with my 2' breaker bar. The passenger side was fairly easy and quick. Getting the insert over the mount wasn't as bad as it looked/sounded. The driver side insert took much longer to install because you have to remove a ton of crap to get to it. It was also difficult to get the bolts/nuts to line back up when reinstalling. Had to use a giant screwdriver to pry on the mount to get a few of the bolts started.

Mine droans liek crazy is the rpms are aroudn 1-2k range while going down the road. It drives me nuts however I think this maybe due to not having the driver side su mm installed yet.

is their a fix for this that you are aware of?

I haven't read about anyone doing something about it but I'm determined to figure something out.

It's not that bad.

I already mentioned I installed front rear and side AWRs earlier, but I failed to mention i had a check engine 4 to 5 hours after.

(It was totally unrelated) P0401 EGR flow Insufficient. But I didn't learn that till today. Cleaned EGR, Cleared Code.

But when I ran the car afterwards the vibrations from the idle had smoothed out from what they were, and is much more tolerable. So I'm even happier than before with the product.(yippy)

I feel a little vibration in the steering wheel, and you can see the door shake at idle when its open to its fullest extent... blah blah blah. JDM sam told me it fix wheel hop and it did. Thats all that matters.

I noticed pretty much the same thing when I ran 2 cans of seafoam though my car back to back. The vibrations on on take off some times can be pretty bad other times hardly noticable. I believe thats all related to a EGR being dirty.
