I had a similar thing happen on my eclipse. One of the small springs in the clutch plate popped out and wedged itself so that the clutch wouldn't disengage. Clutch pads were still fine, so as long as I could force it into gear I could get power to the wheels.
That sucks about your clutch. But at least you'll get something better in there that can hold up to the power increase. Good luck!
ya know what that actually happened on my mustang, i totally forgot. i just installed the clutch myself, and drove it around the block. it was fine, til my the second time i drove it. engaging the clutch going into 4th(final drive) it made a terrible kind of shatter noise, and then i heard a metal on metal grinding in the bell housing. i couldn't get the car out of 4th gear when i was coasting to a stop! it ended up being a defective clutch. it disintegrated the friction disc on the clutch! and the rivets on the clutch ground into my flywheel and destroyed it too. the clutch acted like it was froze up and wouldn't be disengaged. the place i bought it from refunded my money and gave me a new clutch and flywheel at no charge. it was that napa owned performance place, Perfect Additions or something like that
