and your new moderator! (cabpatch)

Just wanted to give a shout out to the fellow MP3ers around, that even though I've been here for over 4 years now, I plan to stay around, and now as a moderator help improve and promote this forum as best as I can.

So I'm here (as are the other MP3 mods) to help out, guide, and answer any questions we can about your MP3 and beyond! Most of us have owned, or do own more than one Mazda and are passionate about them, so hit us up even if its non MP3 related!

Thanks and lets keep the party going!

P.S. We'd also love to hear your suggestions on how we can improve and promote the MP3 section.

Hey welcome!
The first suggestion I would have is to update the MP3 modlist...it seemed rather outdated last time I checked.

How about a sticky as to what specifically is different on an MP3 vs the normal sedans and P5s and MSPs of later years.

for example: no VTCS
different ECU
suspension....

It seems to get asked alot. Just a thought.

that would be a good idea, a thread listing all the differences between the MP3 and the other proteges.

- body kit (front bumper, side skirts, rear lip, spoiler, RH rims, shaved moldings)
- interior (shorter shifter/unique knob, Torino steering wheel, more supportive seats, different seat covers, MP3 mats (in the US), different door panels?)
- sound (full Excelon Kenwood sound system)
- performance (ECU with better A/F curves and advanced timing when used with premium fuel, bigger exhaust (2" catback including a RB axleback), IM with removed VTCS
- suspension (re-tuned Tokico blues, re-tuned "Racing Beat" springs, RB sway bars front and back, upper front strut bar)
- MP3 valve cover-cover and exclusive badging
- No cruise control or ABS available...
- Clutch is "tighter" then regular Protegs...
Is it possible it also has a different coloured headlight assembly? I can't remember...

Someone let me know if I'm forgetting something.

So you're saying the side skirts and front bumper are totally different than any other Protege? They look alot like P5 pieces to me. Isn't the rear lip the same as an MSP? Isn't the wing the same used on the 2003 MSP?

So you're saying that the front STB and sway bars are completely unique to the MP3?

I'm playing a little Devil's Advocate here, but you see my point as to even why this doesn't clear it up?

^My comparisons were to a 2001 Proteg (seeing as the MP3 is only a 2001 model as we all know). Every piece that you mentioned was taken off of the MP3 and added to those cars in the following 2 years. As for the swaybars, the front one is unique yes as the MSP used a thicker one in the front IIRC.
