(help) alright so tonight....i get done running errands with my friend, Adam. I drop him off and 5 seconds after I start driving I hear this horrible sound. At first it sounded like ping pong balls, then when I stopped it sounded like cans rattling from under my car. Ok so i get out and check under the car, nothing there, I check all tires and tire wells....nothing....So i leave, and I don't hear or feel anything peculiar. when i pulled into my driveway I sat in my car for a moment with the engine running. THERE it was idling rough (no movement over 1rpm) Idle rpms were normal......i hear the "gurgle" sound from my exhaust....hmm thats funny normally when my car idls it sounds like a nice clean note...no bumps in between. I pop the hood, it sounds slightly louder but nothing too bad. then i sit back in the car the sound is coming from somewhere on the underside of the driver slightly towards the engine bay. I slightly move the steering wheel the sound gets louder for a second then its quiet (when moving steering wheel) when i turned the car off it was a rough shut off, sounded like a thud and some rattling....turned it on and it rattled and thudded again.....

Can someone explain what might be happening to my car?!!!!! I have no idea what's wrong with it...is something loose????? Should i drive it????, or get it towed to my dealership (at least i work there) (and would call but too late for phone calls)

THANKS!

My best guess would be a loose or damaged exhaust? You described the noise emanating from pretty much where the exhaust runs. If there's a leak between the manifold and turbo, or around the firewall, it might damage your engine (I may be wrong - someone correct me if you KNOW) Can you gain access a set of ramps or some kind of jack to visually inspect it?

I'm mechanically illiterate when it comes to cars, but GrazzMaster seems to have a good point. What's strange is that I haven't heard any other MS3 owners talk about similar problems. Please keep us posted on what you find. ^_^)/

i like the illustrations! they definetly are quite nice....well i got it fixed...had the speed put up on the flat bed and taken in. i wasn't taking any chances. Go figure the dealership that originally completed my recall practically didn't do it.....all my bolts were lose on the left side and there was a counter weight that fell off my motor and fell on my axle.....o and the dampener was out of place....damn service techs!!!! so now it's fixed...and to think i used to work at the dealership who did the recall the first time...geezzzzz

Hehe, and what's worse is you work there, so you'd think they'd do a proper job. =)
Don't hesitate to ever bring it in, especially when it sounds serious. You have warranty. =)

well i USED to work at the dealership that did my recall for the first time. Now i work at another mazda dealership and they are the ones who fixed the original problem.....but still it shouldn't have ever happened

You know the same thing happen to me. Except mine started around the winter time. I took it to a Mazda dealership and they stated that snow was compacted by the tail pipe causing it to sounds like my whole under carriage was going to fall off.
