06 MS6 12,500 miles 2nd gear gone

Two weeks ago today i bought an 06 MS6 $20,000 not bad I thought. I drove it exactely 85 miles, and suddenly had no 2nd gear. I bought it from a ford dealership, they told me to take it to Mazda. They are fixing it under warranty. They are replacing 2nd gear, all sychros and putting a new flywheel on it. It has been 2 weeks and they are telling me they dont have all the parts for it,and that they are not in stock and have to be manufactured and sent from Ohio or Japan.
Does this sound right to anyone here ?. I was just wondering if anyone else has had tranny problems with an MS6 ?. I'm guessing the previous owner whipped the crap out of it. Mazda says everthing else looks good on the car.
I'm about to lose my mind !!. I want to drive my car !!!!

To be honest, if my car hadn't been an 'executive demo' and didn't come with a stellar warranty as a certified pre-owned, I'd have never touched it. Someone very likely bought your car brand new, drove it like they stole it, figured out it was too expensive, or didn't like it, and traded it in. Unfortunately, you're now reaping the (benefits?) of someone else's abuse.

Mazda parts for this car are apparently a dicey proposition. The coilpack they ordered for mine was coming out of a warehouse in Canada and after 5 days of waiting for an overnight shipment, they robbed one off a CX-7 and put it on my car. The part showed up 4 days after that.

Don't know if you're aware or not, but the 6i and 6S are built in the US, while the MS6 is shipped from Japan, so I guess it makes sense that parts come from there as well, but it doesn't make sense that they don't make them more readily available in the states. Sorry about your troubles. This is the first case of broken gears that I've read about, but it's definitely not the first major problem that has come to pass on this forum.

I'm totally in love with my car, but it's not without its quirks. At around 2600 miles I lost a coil pack and got a CEL (gas cap) around 3200. I'm hoping for some clear sailing for a while.

i also love my Black Cherry, but mines been in for 4 different problems in 5 months. all have been discussed thorougly on all boards, but they were

1) CEL for the Purge Valve solenoid
2) Advanced Keyless buttons not working
3) TCS/DSC light illuminated
4) Clutch replacement

they all required ordering of parts and waiting weeks to get them in.

I had my clutch, flywheel, master cylinder, and slave cylinder self destruct on my ms6, and all my parts had to come from a warehouse in ohio if I remember correctly.

i live in Ohio, and all my s*** seems to take forever to get here...i think that warehouse here is a lie....

Probably so, my poor car has been to the dealer various times already, and now my DSC/TSC light is stuck on!!! So i gotta take it to the dealer when the light is on so they can figure it out

I feel your pain. My second gear went out in June. I took to my dealer June 18. It is now practically August 3rd and my car is STILL at the dealer. They just recently received all the parts because they were backordered. Ive been stuck driving a beatup, dinged up, and dented mazda3 rental.

My dealer services include: Clutch problems, Purge solenoid valve replaced twice, rear diff bolts broke (while backing up into a parking space), a few minor problems, and most recently the second gear failure.

BTW my car has just under 16k miles

I do drive somewhat fast but in no way do I abuse the car. I had bought the car used with 4k miles. I have a feeling the previous owner must have really abused it. Either that or I just have one of the factory defects.

ms6mike tore up his 3rd gear, i believe it was him anyway. anyway whoever it was..the linkage was out of adjustment, and didn't allow the gears to fully engage...so it ate em up

Now that is crazy, I also bought my Black Cherry MS6 used from a Ford dealer...... also for $20,000 LOL........talk about odd.

Sorry to hear about your transmission, on the plus side at least everything is covered under warranty and you're not told to go frick yourself.

My car already has about 9200 miles total and I've yet to run into any problems aside from what feels to be the occasional "gear block" where sometimes the car doesn't want to shift into 2nd........ it's not a common thing, happens probably once or twice a month, but a bother to me none-the-less.
