Well, my pickup was still completely submerged, but I was down a quart. (AWR pan holds about 4 total without blocking my return drain.)
BTW, used your trick of drilling holes in the bellhousing for the windage tray and it worked like a charm! Did you jsut use rubber plugs after?
Also Dana, I'll post pics when I get home. Ordered new rod bearings and main bearings, but if the crank is ****** too bad, I gotta grab my other one and drop it in, but that means the tranny comes off.

Just drill 2 5/8" holes in the bellhousing where the bolts are (look in the FSM there's a really good pic) and you can get them off without taking the tranny off.
So ya, pulled the bearings, and I spun rod bearings 2 and 3 due to momentary oil starvation. Main bearings are fine. New ones go in tomorrow.
is your crankshaft balanced?
I'm really messed up over this. So spinning a bearing is usually from what...oil starvation? Or is it being low on oil AND boosting 17+psi which increases the chances of this happening? Or can you spin a bearing at anytime here? I guess anything is possible, even with a built motor.
I'm going forged really soon...but I don't know if I can deal with this. Don't get me wrong, I'm trying to be supportive here, I'm just really pissed for you and discouraged all together now.
Shouldn't it come balanced from the factory? Like it was a BRAND NEW engine right from Mazda.
s*** man..was this at the track?
No, factory new.
