2019 CX-5 Sig Soul Red
My Passport 9500ix does not work in the 2019 CX5 with all the new car electronics. So, Ill need to purchase a new one. The Passport has been okay, it not perfect since Ive had a few tickets over the past few years. Passport will give me a trade in allowance, but Im looking for the best product. Will worry about pricing later.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good unit that works with Blind spot monitoring, forward detection, etc, etc.

I tried a Forum Search but didnt find a current recommendation and with technology in cars changing rapidly, didnt want to purchase another de ice that gives false alerts.

Thanks in advance.

If you get "shot" with laser, no detector will save you.
That is, what happened to me a few years ago, with my Escort Redline.
I have disabled K band, using only KA and it's been fine, no false alarms.
Why it does not work with your car?

K band is the big fail. Solid move. I killed k and x on mine.

I had to give up using a Passport 9500ix because of the constant false alarms from radar signals in newer cars. I replaced it with a Uniden R3. It has GPS so you can lock out frequently encountered door openers and the like and has a number of other features to reduce false alarms, such as the option to sound no alarms below a set speed. Rated as very sensitive on the Ka band, which most police in my area use. So far I like it, but I have just had it for a couple of weeks.

I have both a Uniden R3 and Uniden R7.
The R7 has all the advantages mentioned above and adds a rear detection horn and arrows (think Valentine One and Escort Max 360).
It took a firmware update and some minor adjustments to stop the R7 from detecting the CX-5s own radar emitters, but false alerts are now minimal and I REALLY like it!

BTW, I also have a Escort Max 360 that I replaced with the R7. I prefer the R7.

I am happy with my uniden r3.
minimal false on K when behind new honda accura and chrysler soccer mum vans only :)

I don't get false alarms at all, with my Redline. Only laser once in a while, most likely from other cars.

So if I were to get one, in my 2019 GT-R, which is best?
- Uniden R3
- Uniden R7
- Redline
- Solo

I'm partial to the Uniden R7 (should be since I voted with my wallet).
Latest tech, GPS function to lock out fixed sources like door openers, superior sensitivity, ability to adjust to your preferences, and directional arrows to show where the radar is located.
The R3 has essentially the same functions without the arrows.

I'm unfamiliar with the Redline and Solo ... only know that they're older tech.
Folks who have them can chime in on their advantages.

Ive been running an Escort Max 360 for a few years with excellent results. You really want to make sure you get one with gps to lockout many false positives along your daily commute.
My next car will have a built in detector with laser shifters.

I have a CX5 2017 GT. I was using Uniden R3 since the day it was released. It works great with firmware 1.37. Latest firmware 1.48 will cause the annoying onboard K band falsing if you set the MRCD on. Just set it off . Right now I am using the Uniden R7. The first time I used it I was getting a regular onboard K band falsing from the RD's rear horn coming from the cars BSM. It was just not possible to use it. I had to tweak the RD and had to attenuate the rear horn to decrease the K band sensitivty.

I have it on Advanced. K band 50%/ K wide/ K filter on/ MRCD off. I installed an attenuator for the rear horn. I had 4 layers of the attenuator on the rear horn.

Thanks everyone for your input. It*s greatly appreciated. I*m researching all the options.

Reviving this thread.

I have a 2019 CX5 sig, any thoughts? I just heard Uniden will be releasing R8.

Regarding 2019 cx5c How’s everyone’s long term experience with R7 or its alternatives ie valentine, escort redline 360c etc?

Best

Get the R4. BSM filtering is great and very much quite than my R7. These two were on board my M3TH. Spectacular range with the R4. From R7 to R4 now.
