I just got this car and have nothing more serious to ask about, but I do have some questions about the infotainment system.
My car is a CX5 touring. I think it is the base model so would have the standard infotainment system.
It has a number of function buttons like AM, FM, CD, Bluetooth, CD, AUX, Nav and others.
If I press Nav nothing happens. I read a little that it is a TomTom system and when the system turns on the screen has TomTom on it. I don't see TomTom on the screen. I also read a description that the map info is stored on a SD card usually on the dash left of the steering wheel. I don't see any little sliding window or anything like that in this area. So is it possible it has those switches but doesn't have that feature. The fact that it has the button sort of suggests maybe there is a way to enable the feature. Is it because the SD card, wherever it is, if it is there at all has been corrupted or is missing. Would that explain why it does nothing.
I also have read there is a USB port for the radio in the console/armrest area and some things about what it says or the symbols on it. I suppose to use it with USB that is what you would attach a flash drive with music files or a flash drive with a firmware update. I haven't attached anything yet. I did see a description of how ot see what firmware Mazda connect has in the infotainment center. It said to press the button on the far right called settings. There was one called setup (or maybe it was the other way around) and if I press it I can adjust a number of things like appearance and things like that or to revert to the default settings. I didn't see anything that lists the firmware version I have.
I'm interested in the firmware because I would like to see if it can be updated to work with Android Auto. I have a dongle that works with receivers, etc that can work with Android Auto and allows the music to come via a wirelessly to the dongle and then to the system. I've read Android Auto had all sorts of issues, but this system worked well on my previous car that was Android Auto ready.
I did notice that some of these functions were in white and others in grey. AM/FM/Bluetooth were white. The ones that didn't do anything were grey. This sort of indicates they weren't available, but maybe it is just because I had nothing plugged into them, the SD card in the case of the navigation system, etc. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me though to have switches for things that aren't present on the system though, they serve no purpose.
So I'm at a loss on all of this. The car did come with an owners manual, but I don't think it will mention anything about firmware updates.
