Going to head to the junkyard to pull an entire separate intake manifold to do a VTCS delete on my protege5. there are a few protégés at the junkyard near me but i can’t tell if they’re 2.0s or 1.8s, to my knowledge the valve cover and stuff is identical. any good ways to tell the difference before i drive an hour to this junkyard? any help appreciated!

Attached are the 3, 01, 02, and 03. my P5 is an 02. just need one that will work with my car.

The 2.0 has 2 coils on the plugs the 1.8 has a coil pack bolted to the front of the head. the 1.8 only came in the 99/00 model year. the photos all look like 2.0 engines.

I have a nice clean one with egr and both solenoids...........

Save ya the time and gas to search. This is a recall one the dealership put on mine then I pulled it off to use my PnP IM with VTCS removed. Untouched and has maybe 100 miles on it - fresh as they get
I cut stalk for vtcs but left solenoid and stalk to 1st runner in place so computer didn't cry and a light port and polish. Car loved it
