I saw those but don't like the idea of my charge cable having to drape across the steering column. And I also like to have the phone in the middle in case my wife needs to enter something on the screen while we're driving.
I have to ask: why don't you like the one I posted? I absolutely love the thing.ugh dangit why are there so many choices for 17+ and almost nothing for 12-16?
way too low. Too far to reach and too low to be looking down while driving. I prefer something closer to eye level, around the vent/infotainment screen area.I have to ask: why don't you like the one I posted? I absolutely love the thing.
Will Android Auto work while attached here (while magnetic charging)? Will the car detect it like the phone's connected via cable?I just created this custom iPhone holder / charger for my 2018 Mazda CX-5. I created it by combining two products that I purchased on Amazon.com (see parts below). I did this so I could securely mount my iPhone between the air vents and charge it using a MagSafe style charger. The total cost was about $55 (if you have Amazon Prime).

Assembly Instructions:
1. On the Beerte iPhone holder, remove the ball-joint assembly from the unit.
2. On the Syncwire Magnetic Wireless Car Charger, remove the ball-joint assembly from the unit.
3. Swap the ball-joint assemblies (Beerte ball-join goes to Synchwire and Syncwire goes to Beerte).
4. That's it!
I love this idea! Unfortunately I haven’t come across a mount like this for a 2016 Mazda CX-9.I just created this custom iPhone holder / charger for my 2018 Mazda CX-5. Is it compatible for a CX-9? If you see something similar to a BEERTE mount please let me know
I was hoping there might be one compatible with the 2016 CX-9 over the hazards light button such as in the first post. Not a fan of my air vent being blocked. Every single one I find is for a CX-5 post 2017.https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)
Auto Lock & Release Design: This phone holder can lock or release your phone automatically due to the Gravity linkage. Simply pop your phone in and out of the mount by one hand. 1 x Air Vent Gravity Mount.www.ebay.com

Not helpful for the pre-2017 models, but here was my solution. I have an iPhone 14, so I combined a Magsafe wireless charger that I had from my previous car with the cheapest snap on mount I could find on Amazon along with a very small combination USB-A and USB-C outlet that plugs into the front 12V socket. Works great so far. The outlet actually fits flush in the socket, so if I unplug the charging cord I can close the socket cover.
