2002 Protege5 Transmission problems

Recently purchased a 2002 Protege5, it has about 180,000 miles. Its been having a transmission slipping problem though. O/D light is blinking and ABS light is just on. I replaced the transmission speed sensor on the top of the transmission next to the motor mount but it seems nothing has changed. Also scanned the OBDII with no codes showing up. Very confused and need help figuring out how to fix this. Only have pretty basic knowledge on cars but enough to be able to confidently replace what i need to. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Well I'm going to keep this thread alive because my 2002 P5, 136K miles just started doing the delayed engagement into drive from cold start thing and sometimes O/D light flashing while it's doing that. When that happens it revs and is underpowered and when I stop I can put it in park and then back to drive where I'll feel a noticeable shift change this time and off it goes fine. I also scanned and no ODBII codes (i bought a scanner for the Forscan app). I've had the transmission fluid changed (not flushed) but the shop didn't want to open the transmission pan to get to the filter which may be next for me. According to this video, 2000 Mazda Protege: Changing the Shift Solenoid , he takes off the pan, replaces the filter and the available solenoids and replaces the pan gasket. Good luck and wish me good luck but at this point, my mechanic says its just "morning sickness". After it starts driving, no issues.

you have an update on this one?
Ok, since that time, "Winter" happened in Texas and by late November the O/D - limp mode issue just went away. I think it has something to do with the temperature and/or humidity at this point, right? But then it came back in Spring. So that's when I decided to replace everything under the transmission pan.

IDEMITSU 30040092750 (M5) ATF Type M; 8 Quart $8 * 8 = $64
ATP B189 (Standard Replacement) Premium Replacement; With 3rd Hand Gasket $16
PIONEER 771111 Transmission Shift Control Solenoid x 2 $45 * 2 = $90
PIONEER 771116 EPC x 1 $78
ROSTRA A48421 PWM x 3 $90 * 3 = $270

And after that, it's like a brand new car! Idles like a new car and there is more power getting up to speed but most importantly, the O/D light issue went away! For a while. Then it came back recently but the conditions have to be just right. For instance, if I'm starting it up from overnight and go directly into Drive, it can pop up. But all I'd need to do is turn the car off and back on again and it doesn't show up. The daily routine is to simply park the car in the driveway so I have to back up, turn and then put it into drive and that apparently is enough pressure in the system or whatever valve is now working fine and then when I put it in drive, no problem.

Hope any of that helps.
