Whistling at 4200rpm

At around 4200rpm if I'm on the throttle a high pitched whilsting noise comes in. I assumed it was associated with the turbo, but my friends say they hear it coming from the back of the car. Is this a normal sound everyone else hears?

That would be your ball bearing turbo. Its perfectly normal.

I figured it was a turbo noise, but when my buddy was next to me in his car, he says he heard it coming from the back. And he is no stranger to turbo sounds (has an Evolution VIII). Just making sure it's normal for these cars.

Whistling boost coming through your exhaust. My 323 turbo & 280zx turbo would sound that way when I punched the gas.
