What makes you a good driver?

Strong words. I'll have to agree on the Audis though. Previous generation S4 owners I find seem to have something to prove all the time.

Indeed, but he's right about them being ugly. That's the only reason I didn't spring for the STI vs. the Speed6. I loved everything about that car, but just couldn't get over how it looked. I'm almost 30. I couldn't be seen driving in a car that looks like that! I have an image to protect! (lol)

"learn how to drift"...(rofl2) yea...that will come in handy...(rofl2)

Funny thing...that NEVER came up in any of my Driving Classes at Bondurant.

(lol)

LOL everyone wants to be Drift Racer now........

If you want to really learn how to launch your car properly you just have to practice.

The cool thing about launching is that you dont even need to top out 2nd gear ..... which means you dont have to be doing 100 mph on city streets.

Find a road with stop lights and a speed limit of 50 mph or something. You can practice launching all day and never break the speed limit. Just shut down halfway through 2nd.

The best advice is to start LOW RPMS and work your way up. I think it would be better to work your way up to a harder and harder launch to a point where you a comforatable and under control.

No point in trashing your tranny on your first launch right? If you think you can wring some more power at 2500 RPM launch go to 3000 and so do on. With each step you will feel more comfortable with the car and with your abilities.

I wish I had some private backroads around me to practice launching, that would be nice so I could get better use to the car...... I gotta look around for that...... I'm a little bit too afraid to go to a race track and practice on the drag strip because most people around here are arseheads and they'll just clown on you while you're trying to learn your car, instead of actually helping you and maybe even giving you some pointers..... :(
